Yanks Flip RHP Jordan Foley for RHP Jefry Valdez

Valdez is 6'1" and 165, though already 23. Yanks have been getting lucky with these minor league flips - Michael King, Juan Then - so let's see what happens. He's a power reliever who has had issues with his emotions on the mound. Not sure if he really has a power fastball yet, but also features a change and slider. We'll see if the velo ticks up or if I looked at an old scouting report. Last two seasons his K's have topped his IP's.

Also, the Yanks reportedly have an offer on the table for Adam Ottavino, who would be a good get.

According to reporter Mark Feinsand, Machado said he didn't really mean it:

"When I was asked that question, I was definitely on the defensive, and I was wrong to answer it the way that I did, because looking back, it doesn't come across how I meant it," Machado said. "For me, I was trying to talk about how I'm not the guy who is eye wash. There's a difference between fake hustle for show and being someone who tries hard to win. I've always been the guy who does whatever he can to win for his team.

"But I know how I said it and how that came across, and it's something I take responsibility for. I look forward to talking with each GM and owner that we meet with about that, or any other questions they have."

I'm concerned that we make Machado a big deal and he ends up being the third, fourth or fifth best hitter on the team throughout it.

I prefer Harper because of handedness. But I want one of them. It only costs money and they are 26.

Rich, I agree. Both are generational talents, under the age of 30. They have been linked to Harper for years. Cashman said with Francesa yesterday, that he has to keep in mind the future of Didi, Hicks, whom are due next year. I'd be fine with either, but think Harper makes the better fit in Yankee stadium. A-Rod without directly saying gave his endorsement of Machado while doing press for the London series, fwiw.

Cashman is lost when it comes to Didi. They showed not extend him.

@YankeesPR: TRADE: The Yankees have acquired OF Tim Locastro from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for RHP Drew Finley and cash considerations.

I wouldn't extend Didi. Also this Drew Finley trade for a guy we have to put on the 40 seems meaningless.

A NYP article on how the Mariners’ pitching coach transformed Paxton’s career. The pitching coach is what concerns me most about the rotation. He hasn’t been able to fix Severino’s tipping pitches issue, nor Sonny Gray. If Paxton struggles at times, who will fix him? It’s sad that Cashman is so blind to the issue. But he also thinks Boone deserves all As despite being abysmal. There is no accountability.
