Rangers Stuff: Quinn Back in the Coaching Mix
Ranger Nation on Twitter is blowing up with rumors that Sheldon Keefe is out and Boston University's David Keefe, who'd seemingly pulled out of the search two or three weeks ago, is back in the mix. I've always thought both of these guys as well as the other college coaches showed that the Rangers were fisning in the right pond, as opposed to the Knicks who seemed to have a pole in all ponds - though - to their credit, that's looking good. I guess the knock on Quinn is that he hasn't yet won a National Title, and that might be missing the point. It seems that with so many teams competing, they're almost on a rotational basis and all the good coaches will win at some point. Per Quinn, he was in the Ranger system for a while, but his career was severely curtailed by a rare blood disorder that he's controlled for the past 25 years or so. Anyway, as a coach he helped build the University of Nebraska-Omaha program from the ground up, then was the developmental coach for USA Hockey, then coached in the AHL for the Avalanche, then became an assistant coach for the NHL Avalanche before taking his current job at BU. That's the full tour, and features stops where he built a program and a stop where he ran development. He checks pretty much all of the named boxes and would be as intriguing a choice as any.
