Giants Stuff

Giants have set-up interviews with McDaniels and Studesville on Friday, Patricia on Saturday, and Wilks on Monday.  They are also either interviewing or have already interviewed Spags. The tricky part here is McDaniels, who will also intverview with the Colts on Thursdays and the Bears, as well as the Giants on Friday.  The Colts presumably have Luck coming back next year, and the Bears have Trubisky just starting out.  Will the prospect of a rehabbing Luck and the #3 pick in the draft be more attractive to McDaniels than aging Eli, unknown Webb and the #2 pick in the draft? Impossible to know.  And what about the Bears situation with Trubisky and the #6 pck?  Is that more attractive to a QB/Offensive guru guy than what the Giants have?  It might be, of course once you weigh in the return of OBJ, Engram and Sheppard, but who knows?  The Giants have the least amount of presumable long term QB stability than either the Colts or the Bears have and if the Giants take a QB at 2, the Colts can take Barkley at 3 and have Luck and Barkley and a pretty clear path to greatness. So it will be an interesting decision for McDaniels, and I sort of hope he's not their top choice, because of the two other teams he'll be meeting with and what the Colts, specifically, have to offer.

Update: Shurmur is not scheduled for Saturday, after first meeting with the Lions, Cards and Bears. Cards have QB instability since Carson Palmer just retired, and they don't pick till 11th. Detroit picks 18th. And the Bears are the same as they were for McDaniels.

UPDATE: The Giants will be interviewing Schwartz this weekend afterall.

UPDATE: Rosen and Darnold have declared for the draft, and are the presumptive first two picks.

Do they know that Luck will be 100 percent?

If he likes one of the QBs coming of college this year, and they tell him he can coach him, then I think that trumps (ugh) everything.

They would also have to assure him of an obstructed path if a new quarterback, be it Davis Webb or a draft pick, is his choice to start most games next season.

Yeah, I think Luck is supposed to be back and no other surgery is required and Luck and Barkley is MONEY. We'll have to see. Unless McDaniels loved Webb last year, in which case he could have Barkley and Webb.

They just moved Studesville up to Thursday. You have to wonder as bad as it may seem if they are trying to get him done first so they are free to hire anyone of their pleasings during their interviews the rest of the weekend. By getting his done on Thursday if they love McDaniels they would be free to end the search there.

So Studesville is their Rooney guy. I hate that.

Other than an aging Hilton, and Doyle, what weapons does Indy have? I like our firepower much better. I agree with Rich on luck, how do we know if he’s healthy. Carl Banks went through a list of qbs playing through a full season, minus Russ all of the. This year we’re non mobile. It’s partly the Bias in men, but we have a much better future. And while I bash Mara, he’s much more stable than Irsay..

Wilks could also be their Rooney guy.

I wonder if Belicheck/Pats are granting the permission with an understanding that nothing will be announced until after the Pats season ends to avoid distractions.

I also feel like Gettleman is saying the right things publicly about Eli to ensure he keeps some trade value. If he openly comes out and says we're going in a different direction, then we have zero leverage.

Willks is monday, if they pull the trigger before then, even if it comes out later, they'd get trouble from the league.

Sometimes when you hear Gettleman talk, you have to wonder how Reese ever got the job.

Metro north is shut down on the Hudson line due to power outages and down trees. It’s like that all over.

This was all forseeable, so if they’re worth anything, they left already, like yesterday. .

So assuming they had that foresight, they won’t get their Rooney rule interview in until after the weekend, so even if they do close the deal we may not know.

I’d love to know why they didn’t leave yesterday

It can’t be the Spags interview right because the guy lost control of the defense (3 suspensions) so he really didn’t even deserve one.

They can just interview David Merritt if they want to clear Rooney before they meet with anyone else. It's probably not in the spirit of things, though, at one point, I thought he was a possiblity for future coach.

Broncos have reached agreements with Mike Sullivan (Giants) as QB coach, and Curtis Modkins (Bears) as RB coach

Sullivan avoided being hurt by this seasons chaotic dysfunction. Best to him.
