Gettleman Comes Out Kicking Ass

I went out on my morning constitutional, just after my last post, and was about a mile away when all hell broke loose at Giants Central. So Gett fired Marc Ross and cuts Bobby Hart. And that's a very nice start.  Ross talked a good game but his default setting outside of the first round, where I think Jerry was making most of the picks, was power 5 conference average players. In other words, he was never going to find an Osi, or any of the other small school gems that Jerry used to find when he was running the drafts. This is an important move because it shows that Gettleman isn't just taking the chair, but he's really digging in and addressing the rest of the problems.  Not sure who'll run the rest of the draft prep, but Gett probably knows all the scouts, and they'll figure it out.

Bobby Hart was a kid who couln't afford a bad attitude, yet he had one and it also compromised Flowers.  Hart is gone, and that's a start on the all new OL thay must be put together.  Bisnowaty has been activated from the PSquad for tomorrow's game. Hilarious that he will see action before Webb.

They have some difficult salary cap decisions coming up.

Also, Webb needs to play a quarter.

And yes, these moves are welcome but are indicative of a screamingly obvious problem that to people whose heads weren’t deep in the sand should have been made several years ago, if only to protect the career of the best QB, by far, in franchise history.

So could a reporter ask Mara why he was in denial for so long?

Schwartz is interviewing but Myers has it as: McDaniel, Patricia, or O’Brien.

Looks like O'Brien won't hit the market.

Jim Schwartz is expected to be the favorite to be the next coach for the New York Giants, sources tell @AdamSchefter.

The article is a little more equivocal

Could Jim Schwartz end up as Giants head coach? Sure.
Do I think he's the guy?
Pump the brakes on that for now.
He's the first requested interview that has been reported.
There will be others (Yoda voice).

I think it will probably be Schwartz.

Two things concern me:

1) Mara seems to prefer to have a GM and coach in place soon rather than waiting for the best people to come free.

2) Mara talks about making a mistake with an inexperience head coach, but the real mistake was his evaluation not McAdoo’s inexperience, and what coach could have succeeded with that OL?

But we’re talking about a person, as I have said, that thought Reese and Ross were more important to keep than Coughlin. . Talk about feeling an IQ test.

So I think he’s the worst owner New York, and U have no confidence in anything he does, but that doesn’t mean it can’t succeed. I’m very skeptical, but it could happen

Sorry for the typos. Text to speech will be my undoing.

I think McAdoo coached in a cowardley fashion once he got the HC job. His offense was never as good as it had been as an OC. Weird, and startling as that was, and the OL sucked when he was OC, too.

I don’t disagree but that’s primarily on Mara, imo, because McAdoo is supposedly very unimpressive.

They better not f’ing win this meaningless game.
