Clint Frazier DL'd, Aaron Hicks Back
As we guessed, Clint Frazier was put on the 15 Day DL, and recalled Aaron Hicks a day early. Clint has an oblique, so who knows if we'll see him again this year. But we get a 5 tool guy back, who was also showing the walk gene before he went back. Let's see if he can kick this O into high gear again.

Beats trading for Bruce.
That's not a knock on Bruce, but it suggests that they're throwing shit against the wall.
If ownership truly wanted Bruce, he'd be a Yankee. As it stands, they were too cheap to take on part of his salary.
I view that as a positive.
But for a short stretch this team has not been good since early June. That's not the kind a move that's likely to turn things around.
I do agree there is an inconsistency that has characterized much of their floundering in recent years. They are finally on track due basically to a full rebuild, but they get antsy probably because they were teased by the fast start and are flailing a bit.
I've said this for a few years, there have been two plans at work. Rebuild and Default. Rebuild has slowly been winning, and not getting Bruce was another win.
Heyman
New York Yankees
Some believe the Yankees are gearing up for a run at Shohei Otani.
They did make a play for Jay Bruce; however, the Mets took the deal where the Indians agreed to pay the $5.3 million remaining while the Yankees were only offering to pay “some” of Bruce’s remaining salary. Some Yankees people believe the Mets don’t really want to trade with them, but in this case, the Mets found more money from the small-market Indians. According to Joel Sherman, the Yankees would have used Bruce as DH while Matt Holliday’s out.
The Yankees have shown interest in Neil Walker of the Mets.
They appear to be on a budget and near their spending limit. Not only did they get the Twins to pay Jaime Garcia’s salary, but they only offered to pay some of the remaining Jay Bruce pay (a reported $1 million of the $4.3 million left) after originally suggesting to pay none of it. They offered two prospects instead of the one sent by the Indians.
The Yankees weren’t very aggressive in regard to Yonder Alonso (obviously since they traded for Sonny Gray and spent a month talking to the A’s, who eventually traded him for Boog Powell II).
Yankees people comments that Gary Sanchez’s receiving issues are related to putting on about 10 pounds of muscle is a rather generous take. As one scout was quoted in this space late last year, he just isn’t a very good receiver at this stage in his career. He has a great arm, and great power, but catching the baseball has never been a strength, either before or after the added muscle.
Some people believe Jacoby Ellsbury’s rough last few months are connected to the concussion he got while crashing into the center field wall at Yankee Stadium.
What stands out to me is the comment about Sanchez. Anyvreporter can get an anonymous scout to say almost anything, but Cashman is the one who blamed it on his physical conditioning. When you hit like Sanchez does when he's right, who cares about his defense? Only myopic fools like the current manager. He needs to go.
Sanchez is a plus pitch framer and most other things, other than the blocking balls issue.
Gray is supposed to be a plus fielder...
We're getting worst case scenario from Gray through his first 9 innings.
How so?
I have watched biut? 3 2B and no runs? That summarizes why they have faded.
We haven't had a lead since he started a game. Yank errors and his error have kept it that way so. He was supposed to come in and be our #2.
Ok. It's pitiful right now.
They're playing tight. That usually comes from the top and is transmitted on down.
They're just not very good. They could still get hot at the right time, but it's obvious the early months were a facade.
True, but they aren't nearly this bad. They fixed their development issues at the lower levels, but at the major-league level changes are required.
Girardi (and his staff) are the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about
Going Saturday. Not my decision.
They better stop this snowball like now.
I fully expect them to get swept. In fact, a win would honestly shock me.
The young guys are going through their inevitable struggles, and the veterans as a group simply aren't good enough to make up for it.
Not into going.
Great win. Shit manager.
