Ian Clarkin to the DL

Ian Clarkin has been retro'd to the DL, though it's rumored to be innings management.   That means our top two pitching prospects are on the shelf.  I wonder how many more years it will take to stretch out Clarkin and Severino.

I am a bit surprised. I thought he would get another 25-30 innings. But I guess based on his age, maybe they want to be careful.

I hope Gil Patterson made the final decision, not Newman or someone else of hi ilk.

You do know that before he was promoted, Mark Newman was head of development when Andy, Mo, Jeter, Bernie, Po and others were developing into HoF caliber guys, right?

He gets blamed for a lot of stuff that isn't his direct responsibility anymore. He's more big picture and administrative.

Not that I don't think Cashman will be back next year, but Hal didn't exactly give him a ringing endorsement today: "Steinbrenner also said he hasnt decided what to do about GM Brian Cashman, whose contract is up after season. 'Let me get to October first.'
