Rangers Duclair and Halvorsen Headline the Traverse City Troop
The Rangers, today, announced their roster for the the Traverse City Tournament, and it's a far cry from previous rosters. Gone are the JR Millers and Ryan Bourques, they've all be replaced by mostly younger prospects (though Miller is still just 21).
According to Blueshirts United, they are bringing 14 forwards, 7 defenders and two goalies.
The goalies are Brandon Halverson, the kid we draft with our first pick in June, and McKenzie Skapski, the kid we drafted last year who had some sublime moments with his junior team this yar.
On D, Samuel Noreau seems like he's been around forever, but he's just 21 and younger that some of the college kids. Ryan Mantha is another tall D on the roster. Troy Donnay is even taller. Mat Bodie is a 6 foot tall lefty shot. Daniel Walcott is a 5'11" lefty shot with a hell of a highlight tape. Petr Zamorsky from the Czech Republic is also 6 feet, and Dallas Valentin is a good sized kid from Manitoba.
Ryan Graves is missing from the group and he may still be suffering from his shoulder injury.
With Pavel Buchenevich a year away from coming over, the equally spectacular Anthony Duclair is headlining the forwards. You all saw that play he made last week on the goal. Nuff said. Btw, Buchnevich made the ESPN top 100 at #26, and Duclair was a just missed. That must have something to do with the concussion and underrating the Q.
Keegan Iverson the big power forward from the June draft is also going. He's had a hurt hand lately, so hopefully it will be better.
Ryan Haggerty and Chris McCarthy, two of the decorated collegians we signed in lieu of having draft picks are also on the team.
Draft picks like Richard Nejezchieb, Adam Tambellini and Michael St. Croix are also on the team. Would be a good time for MSC to sparkle.
Rounding out the forwards are Nate Burns, Josh Nicholls, Logan Nelson, Paxton Leroux, Nickolas Latta and Brian Moore round out the team.
We'll see how they do. Because of injuries and kids being overseas, it's not really a full representation of what is in the system now.

Phil;
If you ever get a chance, maybe you could write up, or link to, some good places that have a decent analysis of the Ranger's kids in the Farm. Not really much out there.
Thanks.
All the stuff is kind of opinion-y rather than using the latest metrics. I'm a stat guy, but I don't like writing about them because they interrupt the ideas they give me.
Put I like PPG and not really +/- for hockey and don't think the possession numbers are super reliable yet.
Just as I still don't have a lot of faith in baseball's defensive metrics.
I'm with you on Baseball's defensive stats. The "eye" test tells me Ellsbury is a solid to better CF. The stats say otherwise.
