Yanks: Whitley to the Pen, Capuano to Start

So the Yanks announced that Chris Capuano will start tomorrow, and Chase Whitley will go to the pen.   This moves Shane Greene's next start to Sunday.  Glad they are respecting Whitley's innings load.   But this still feels like a temporary rotation and you have to wonder what else is coming and at what cost.

I heard a little of Olney on Kay driving home earlier. It's hard to know what is his opinion in isolation and what is colored by his sources, because Cashman has given him scoops before.

Anyway, he says the Yankees and Phillies aren't close on Byrd. Seattle and Cinn are interested as well, (so good, let them do it), and he talked about the possibility of the Yankees making Robertson a qualifying offer in the offseason, but was equivocal about whether the Yankees would want him to accept it or not.

Kay asked him about Kemp, who he has been pushing, but Olney said the Dodgers would likely have to pick up about $100m (he's owed about $115m, and GMs have told him that if he was a FA, he would get $16m for two).

They also talked about Lee and Howard, but I got a call.

Olney's not as plugged into the Yanks as he was when he was on their beat. Seems like the next move or so is going to come out of the blue. Not that it will be someone we haven't mentioned, I just don't think there will be much run up.
