Knicks Waive Shannon Brown
Phil Jackson is kicking the training wheels off of his new look Knicks. He just cut Shannon Brown, who had probably only been signed for his familiarity with the triangle. He played in Summer League for the Knicks and that, apparently, was that. Gotta wonder what's next for the Knicks. Not worried about it for the first time in forever.

In increasing order of value, Smith, Shump, Hardaway. One is probably getting traded. Chris Herring makes the case that it should be Hardaway.

Obviously, anyone is/should be available for the right price, but I think his argument overlooks:
1) the rookie learning curve;
2) the pathetic state of the Knicks had to impact interdependent rate stats;
3) he never mentions what kind of value they should demand.
Truth be told, it should be JR. No doubt about it. But his market is probably the lowest of the 3.
I hope they keep Shump though. I think playing for a coach who does not ridicule him in the press, does not ignore him in the huddle (it was obvious just watching Woodson), and watch him return to the defensive menace he was 2 years ago.
I also like Timmy Jr. Would hate for him to be traded after only 1 season. Got to love his long-range bombing capability.
Yes, he gives no "who" to trade him for which I felt obviated his whole case. What's the point in coming up with the why he might be tradable without having any other goal?
Yes, he has the highest trade value outside of Carmelo, but what's there toto go get with him?
I expect more from both Herring and the vaunted WSJ and its vaunted 11th grade reading level.
I know its summer league but i like Larkin a lot and I hope we keep him
Hardaway I'd only leave offer out there if we could get a young, talented big. Someone like Greg Monroe. No one's gonna bite on that yet. Jax is gonna have raise the value up on some of these guys before he can make any moves of consequence.
It's interesting that Jax was on the team when they made some of their greatest trades...
I personally don't think they need to move any of the guards
If you we play Melo at the 4, where he would most excel in the triangle, our guards look like this:
PG- Calderon/Prigioni/Larkin
SG - Shumpert/JR/Hardaway
SF - Hardaway / Early / JR
Then still need rebounding and a low post presence.
I'm sort of with L in NJ, though, if we're just going to tank the season and go for the lottery, I'm fine with standing pat.
