Carmelo Widely Reported To Be Returning to the Knicks

In a significantly smaller twitter explosion than the one LeBron caused yesterday, various outlets are reporting that Carmelo told Chicago and whoever else to move and that he is currently negotiating his new deal with the Knicks.  Let's hope it has a an opt out they can walk away from.   Of course, the devil will be in the details of the new deal, and once we see what it is, we'll have the parameters of what else can be done over its term.   It's unclear whether or not Phil Jackson will move on with more team building this year, or whether he will now wait till next summer.  I mean, who else is out there that could help?

Less than the Max, and he seems to be taking a pay cut in year 2 to facilitate moves.

So if he takes a 7.5% decrease in year 2 it results in a 3.3mm savings on the cap for us that year. It would also mean his contract is worth 5 yrs 116 million.

What's the difference between Bargnani's expiring and a second max space next year?
