Regardless of Injury Cashman Says He'll be Aggressive at the Deadline

I can't believe this.   So, after announcing that Tanaka will be out 6 weeks (probably the minimum) Cashman has announced that the Yanks will still be aggressive at the deadline.   He has put together an awful team, screwed up the ecology of the entire system, and now he wants to spend more assets going after a post season this team cannot reach.  Losing 4 starters should have told him that.   But it didn't.   The Yankees are now the post-Van Gundy  pre-Jackson Knicks.   Congrats!   That's good for nothing.

Figured I'd post this here so people would see it via Josh Norris:

Jorge Mateo has a sore hand
Ian Clarkin has a sprain ankle
Abe Avelino will start rehab games tomorrow
Eric Jagielo may return next week

On a separate note, we really have no idea what CC will be anymore and this is probably Kuroda's last year.

If we could trade for Hamels, I think it's a smart play to pick him up for not only this year but for the next 2-3 years.

Obviously it depends on the price but if Phillies go fire sale, it may not be too steep.

Even if they decide to sell, or more likely hold steady and make no moves... Cashman can't say that. They do have to try to sell tickets, and give off the appearance of competing. So hopefully it's just bluster, and he won't do anything stupid.

(trying to remain optimistic)

No way I would trade for Hamels. He has a lot of innings pitched, is in his 30s and makes a ton of money for years to come. That combination has been lethal to teams in the past. So the Yankees should trade top prospects (which is what the Phillies would want) and allocate more money to that?

It's time for a new way of doing things. Otherwise, the Mets and many other teams are going to leave them in the dust.
