Beltran to the DL/Solarte Up

The extra year was genius, Cash.   This guy is creating new ways to get injured while you pay him.  This time it's his face.   Sheesh.  And the Refsnyder/Pirela hate continues as the Yanks call back Solarte who was as terrible as Zoilo when sent down.   What is the point of a farm if you won't play anyone under 25?   The Yankees are not the Yankees right now.

I wonder if they're gun-shy about making changes to the 40 man roster, worried that if they drop someone to make room for Refsnyder/Pirela/etc, they'll lose them to another org, where they'll go on to have success ala Quintana.

Or they're concerned that the young players will flounder in New York and lose trade value.

I don't know. Frustrating team to root for, lately.

Beyond the bad contract, their handling of Beltran this year is a microcosm of how they are choosing contending at mediocrity over being risking to be great again.

It's pathetic and they are ripping their fans off to pad their bottomlline being willfully blind to how their bottomline would be really improved with a great team.

Article about the screwy ecology of the Yanks will be coming up in the next few days. Sort of waiting on the NBA stuff, first.

It's almost like (although not quite) 1990 all over again, without competent people like Stick and Buck to fix it.
