Yanks: Greene Wins Debut

Shane Greene pitched 6 innings of two run ball in his first start.   He was burning through the Indians getting bad contact through 4, but not striking anyone out.   In all, sort of reminiscent of Wang.  In the fifth he finally got two K's, but they were around a solo shot from Swisher on a three ball count.   He was so afraid of walking him, he threw him a meatball.    He gave up another run in the 6th, and though his PC was all that elevated Girardi went to the pen, using Huff for the 7th and until he gave up a homer to the first batter he faced in the 8th, then Yankee All Star Dellin Betances came in and shut the door with a  6 out save.

McCann looks like he might be ready to do some hitting.    Beltran was out with a knee, they'll examine him, but maybe that will mean 2 call ups with bats -- though, god knows, Girardi will probably want  13th pitcher, because he has never understood offense.

I loved watching this. It's what this team should be about. Not trading for fading pitchers.

So Refsnyder wil play some OF.
I get why Jeter is left undisturbed even though his range is really bad. Who gives a crap about Roberts? Yes, he has hit some lately. A well run team with someone like Refsnyder would look to sell him. But not Cashman. This is an example of how you squander a payroll a huge payroll advantage and field a mediocre team. It is hard to stomach.

It's system defeating and I'm probably going to write something about it later.
