Rangers in 6
Public opinion seems to be leaning toward the Kings, and they are a very good team that could very well win the Cup. But, if I have learned one thing over all of these years of being a sports fan, it's that speed kills. Everyone, notes that the Kings are a bigger team than the Rangers, especially up front. But, of course the Rangers average size takes a hit from having St. Louis and MZA, and those two are going to the a pain in the ass for the big, relatively slow, Kings. If I've learned one thing by watching sports all these years, it's that speed kills. Whether it's boxing, football, basketball or hockey, speed and quickness will trump size 9 out of ten times. And the Rangers have that over the Kings is spades.
West Coast hockey has been venerated lately. People think they are seeing a pre-trap level of O executed by 5 at a time. But the truth is a lot of these highlights wouldn't be possible if the D's weren't up ice trying to fill on O all the time. In fact, precious little D was played at all in game 7 between the Kings and Blackhawks. The Rangers will play D. And they arrive with a better goalie.
So, when the Kings crowd the offensive zone, Stepan or McD will chip the puck to Kreider, Nash, Hagelin, Pouliot of Brassard and they'll be off to the races. And MZA and St. Louis will skate circles around them.
Now, this may not be how it turns out - but it should. Let's go Rangers!
