The Rangers have "signed" Vermont C/LW Chris McCarthy. I say "signed" because they are currently at the 50 contract limit, so they'll have to give him a Hartford ATO for now, then officially sign him when room becomes available. He scored more than a point a game this year, has good size and is known for his leadership abilities. The Sharks had tried to sign him last year, but he decided to finish school.
As we mentioned the other day, the Rangers are down a bunch of picks at this point and must really shop the UDFA market now that the college season is ending a kids are free to sign. Wouldn't be surprised if they hit it two more times.

I love the signing. Big strong kid.. I agree we need to get a few more done.... Guys like Powe and Asham once gone will give us room under the 50
