Giants Second Rounders of Note

I mentioned yesterday that the Giants have been historically great in the second round (overall better than any of their other rounds) and today, for fun I thought I'd list some of them, starting off with #92 Michael Strahan but just off the top of my head, so some will be in order and some will be out of order, but I'm just listing them as a group, not rating their careers or anything.

Okay so it's:

Michael Strahan

Leonard Marshall

Chris Snee

Tiki Barber

Amani Toomer

Jason Sehorn

Brad Van Pelt

Mark Collins

Erik Howard

Pepper Johnson

Jumbo Elliot

Linval Joseph

Cornelius Griffin

Terrell Thomas

Steve Smith

Corey Webster

Osi Umenyiora

Joe Jurevicius

Scott Gragg

Phillipi Sparks

Mike Fox

Little Joe Morris

Earnest Gray

Buddy Dial

Sam DeLuca

There are a few more, but the Giants superior seconds really started with George Young.  Interestingly, in the early years of the draft, the Giants must have been routinely trading their seconds because they'd have 1st and 3rds and no seconds listed in the record books.

Anyway, the list I showed you comprised much of the core group of 5 NFC champions and 4 Super Bowl Winners.   We got Mark Collins, Erik Howard, and Pepper Johnson all in the same round and also got Greg Lasker who looked good at first and flamed out, in the 1986 draft.

So this is why it's important not to squander seconds as the Giants did on Sinorice Moss,  Clint Sintim and Marvin Austin.
