Gardner Rumors

This morning there are two Brett Gardner rumors coming from well known writers.  Peter Caldera states that Gardy could be on his way to Detroit for our old pal Austin Jackson.  That would have some nice symmetry to it, though AJ has always K'd too much.   At the same time, he's also just 26, is also a very good defender, and hits a lot of triples with some nice pop that could be helped by the stadium if he came over.     I wouldn't mind this one at all.

On the other hand, Bob Nightengale says Brett Gardner could be going in a package for Justin Masterson.   Masterson is a big pitcher who has swapped good years with bad years.   Right now he's coming off his second best year.   Anyway, he'd represent the missing 200 innings and give the Yanks the opportunity to trade Nova, should they be able to snag Tanaka.  Interesting possibility.  I wouldn't make this trade if it meant not also going after Tanaka.
