Captain Cally Out 4-6 Weeks

Just as was suspected immediately, Ryan Callahan will be out 4-6 weeks with an MCL strain.  I can't remember if the Rangers are allowed to call JT Miller right back up, or whether they have to wait for now and call up someone else, but someone will be called.  Pouliot and Pyatt are the unsavory alternatives.   This is the Captain's second injury of the year, after missing time at the very beginning of the year as he rehabbed from last year's injury and subsequent surgery.  I hope the Rangers can come to a reasonable deal with him because while I think he's important to the team, he cannot be relied on to make it through a season in one piece.   The same is somewhat true of Marc Staal.    The Rangers will have some interesting negotiations coming up.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if they make a move now.  AV finally intimated that the current roster can't play his style.  Remember the NHL has a trade moratorium  for a few days around Christmas every year, so something could happen sooner than later.
