Yankee Draft `13: Maybe Not So Unusual

Earlier tonight I commented to the effect that the Yanks hadn't taken advanced collegiate bats in awhile.   Then occurred to me that I was wrong.   Just last year, on day 2 they took C Peter O'Brien and 2b Rob Refsnyder.   O'Brien is raking at Charleston, while waiting for his D to pass muster for a promotion, and Rob Refsnyder has already hit his way to High A.   Both of those guys look like they'll make it to the show, the O'Brien might do it more as a DH/1B than a C.   We'll have to see.   They also drafted 1B's like Kyle Roller and Saxon Butler who may or may not make it to the show but that have at least pretty good approaches, so grabbing Jagielo and The Judge (new crime series?) they were advancing one or their sort of sub trends, rather than presenting us with a new approach.   It will be interesting to see how all of these collegiate bats turn out.   Roller's already in AA.
