Down to the Nitty Gritty?

The Daily News has revealed that Carmelo Anthony met with Knick owner Jim Dolan last night in LA. What's more, the Knicks and Nuggets scheduled a conference call for today. I have no doubt the Melo and Dolan exchanged vows last night and the overpay will be made soon. The devil is in the details, though, and we'll have to see what we're left with and what we can still do after the deal goes down. But I think it will shortly, even if the commish stalls the announcement till next week. Go Knicks!

Apparently, the Knicks are offering Gallo, Chandler, Curry and a first rounder for Melo, Billups and stuff. I expect that gets it done.

Hahn says Denver is asking for the starting lineup vs NJ last Sat. Ian O'connor says Gallo/Chandler/Curry/Felton pick for Melo/Chauncey

I know. O'Connor's version is probably right.

Phil what's your take on the package confirmed by Hahn and yahoo?

That better do it.

If I was running a team I wouldn't do it, but I don't care enough to strenuously object.

I'm saving that for any more stupid attempts to trade Montero.

I want to see what else they can do. Walsh has teased this out and must have a layered plan.

supposedly Isola said Denver wants Fields also.. forget it

At 7:45 PM, Blogger Rich said...

Dolan won't say no.

At 7:45 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I think that's just a detail to keep the story going till Stern lets them announce the deal.

Latest from Isola

Despite Knicks latest offer, Denver wants more, believed to be another pick. "I don't know if either side is going to budge," says a source

Sounds like they're gonna make it play out till the all-star game is over.

Wojo(on WFAN w Evan Roberts) says only way Melo goes to NJ is Thursday at the deadline if the Denver decides they don't want to deal with the Knicks, and Melo really wants no part of NJ that it would be a cash grab

also says better chance then not he is Knick, keeps saying Denver not in love with Knicks offer. Says Kronke's son and GM would accept deal, that it's up to Kronke's dad.

Nets are out of it, and I believe they were never back in it.

What agenda do Isola and Wojo have? It seems they keep spewing the same nonsense. Isola we know is bitter that the Garden has a muzzle on him. Wojo used to be decent but has now lost credibility. If the deal goes through and we keep Gallo even better imo..

At 5:00 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

They're just keeping the story going. Wojo was never good.

At 5:04 PM, Blogger Michael said...

There has always been an ANTI-NY agenda when it comes to the Rangers/Giants/Yankees/Knicks..

At 5:05 PM, Blogger Michael said...

you are right Phil, Wojo was never good :)

I think Denver is trying to play Dolan.

At 4:27 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

They're trying to maximize their take. Seems like it will get done after the all star game, though.

At 6:49 AM, Blogger Rich said...

Right, that's why Walsh should have handled the negotiations; he's far more skilled. Dolan is an idiot. But we're captive to his idiocy.

O'Connor says the Knicks are cautiously optimistic.

Tommy Dee's latst:

The Knicks are working feverishly on the deal and a source with knowledge of the meetings has told me that while ownership has control over the meetings, Donnie Walsh is still very much a big part of the negotiations.

This is a situation that is rapidly coming to a close with the Knicks in the lead. All parties, including fans, would love to see this situation finally come to a close.

Via Yahoo:

Dolan has overruled Walsh in these trade talks and undermined his authority. Walsh has never wanted to give away Raymond Felton for an aging Chauncey Billups and throw Danilo Gallinari into the package, too. This is all Isiah, all his influence.

Thomas doesn’t believe Dolan is inclined to give him his job back, but it almost doesn’t matter anymore. In a moment of truth for this Knicks franchise, in the biggest trade they’ve tried to make in years, Isiah Thomas, the coach of Florida International University, has emerged as the de facto GM.

For months, Thomas has privately insisted that Walsh was done with the Knicks this spring. His option must be exercised by April 30 and that still hasn’t happened. Thomas believes it’s never happening, and believes he can install a puppet regime through Dolan to replace Walsh. This way he can eliminate the middleman. “He wants his own guy in that office, someone he can have some control over,” a league source said.

A person with knowledge of the conversations told CBSSports.com on Saturday that Jazz point guard Deron Williams began informing close associates after last season that if Stoudemire wound up in New York, Williams would follow him there as a free agent in 2012. If the Knicks got Anthony with the three-year extension under current rules, it is not clear whether they’d have enough cap space to add a player such as Williams, Chris Paul or Dwight Howard when the trio become unrestricted free agents after next season.

I think Billups has a 14M deal that expires just in time for 2012 FA.

At 7:20 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Enough is enough already Denver is absurd. Knicks should walk away

At 10:20 PM, Blogger Rich said...

I think he'll be a Net. I hope I'm wrong.

At 9:34 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

No he won't.

At 10:10 AM, Blogger Rich said...

I don't think the Nuggets want to deal with the Knicks, and I think Antony's primary goal is the contract.

Stern should really be involved because the Nuggets appear to be operating in bad faith.

At 10:24 AM, Blogger Rich said...

The latest is that Anthony could go to the Knicks and Gallo and Mosgov to the Nets.

At 10:56 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

We'll see what happens. I think he'll be a Knick. Btw, the rest of the league is flipping out at Denver for holding them hostage.

At 11:09 AM, Blogger Rich said...

I would hate to see Gallo in a Nets uniform, but whatever.

At 11:13 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Yeah, that would be too bad.
