Knicks Beat the Heat!

The Knicks electrified the Garden tonight by beating the Heat for the first time this year. 93-88. Once again they missed a lot of open shots, as in the Laker game earlier this month, but this time they didn't let it get them down and played spirited defense all over the court. Landry Fields may have had his best game yet, and finished with a double-double. Gallo made some big shots down the stretch and Ray Felton hit 4 clutch free throws to put the game away late. Amare was Amare, which is to say, our all star. He had 23 and 8 facing a number of defensive tactics both legal and illegal designed to slow him down. He should have gone to the line more. But, in the NBA, it seems you have to earn the respect of the refs before you start getting the calls you should, and the Knicks are just coming off of a decade long run of losing respect. But, they overcame everything tonight and came away with a mighty big W. Go Knicks!

Great win. I still don't think this team is close to reaching its potential, which makes it even tougher to trade multiple assets for Melo.

Ideally we'd get him as a free agent.

I think there is a ceiling to what D'Antoni's coaching can yield, in part because of his short rotation.

D'Antoni's style of play can't win in the playoffs. If you need proof of that, look at his tenure in Arizona.

OT, but the Orioles are reportedly in the lead for Duscherer. Meanwhile, Cashman continues to sit on his rusty dusty and not try to make start, low-cost/short-term signings that could help with an area of need, the starting rotation. I wish Hal and Levine had chosen to overrule him in this instance instead of with the bullpen.
