The Baseball Hall of Fame Gets Two Right

For the first time in a few years, the Baseball Hall of Fame avoided embarrassment by electing two worthy candidates: Robbie Alomar and Bert Blyleven. Alomar should have gotten in on the first ballot, but spitting at an umpire apparently costs you one year. Blyleven was a long term embarrassment for the voters. Good to see both errors addressed. Now where the heck is Rock Raines? Yikes! Deepest congrats to Robbie and Dutch.

So glad that Blyleven had a good year pitching in 2010 to push him over the top and finally get in to the HOF....

Soriano is now definitely out.

Zambrano might be in.

Rothchild was his PC in Chicago so I wonder if he wants him in NY and might have Cashman's ear.

Salary dump for marginal prospects?

I hope Cashman has some kind of plan to make the bullpen better, in that case. If he honestly thinks Joba and Robertson are legitimate 7th and 8th inning guys, he's the wrong man for this job.

If Cashman is truly willing to part with Montero for Joakim Soria, he should be fired. And this is coming from someone who wants Soria.

KC won't trade Soria anyway.

Both Chicago teams could make their SP available.

Jackson
Floyd
Buerhle

Zambrano

Where did you see that, Mike?

While I'm glad the Yankees have apparently targeted Soria, who I think is the best closer in baseball not named Rivera, trading a bat of Montero's caliber for him would be inexcusable.

Well, it's Madden, so it's probably nonsense, but if it turns out to be true, I will think Cash is the worst GM in MLB and I will diss him every chance I get.

Yanks are talking to A Jones but a a bit apart on money.

I don't want him.

Jones would be a good 4th OF'er and can play all 3 OF positions.

Yanks also talking to Duchsherer.

He's inconsistent and prone to be outing of shape. There are far better options.

Name them for me would you?

Not costing Cashman talent but just $$$.

Why, you really don't know?

Damon, Milledge, Manny

Offense/defense they all give you more.

Damon...He is a lefty and doubt he wants to have a role off the bench.

Manny...Do we really want his character in the clubhouse and his defense is atrocious.

Milledge...The guy can't hit but he might be better defensively than Jones.

Based on cost and value to the Yankees, Jones would be ideal as a role player.

Ability > handedness

You really think Manny will do anything untoward with A-Rod, Jeter, and Mo around?

He has upside. He has had character issues, but again, almost everyone comports themselves well around the people the Yankees have.

Jones is an often out of shape declining enigma. It would be a very bad signing.
