Knicks May Have Found Their Big

Timofey Mozgov ended the Knicks big man hunt tonight by coming off the bench and putting up 24 and 13. He played with much more poise and looked like what we were hoping for. The Knicks pulled away after halftime to beat the Pistons on big game from Gallo, Amar'e and Mozgov. Now, he probably won't get those numbers every night, but there's no reason not to use him and his 6 fouls in the rotation. They are not going to find anything better on the trade market. Go Knicks!

UPDATE: The Knicks have apparently hired former Denver GM Mark Warkentein to an unnamed senior consultant position. Has Walsh finally chosen a GM? And what's this got to do with Carmelo?

Phil what do you make of the Warkentien hiring by Donnie? Seems like another shrewd move for the short and long term...

I'm not sure what it means. Is he gonna be the GM? What's his relationship with Melo? And does this mean the Knicks are now gonna wait till he's FA?

To me it means that Dolan has finally learned to trust Walsh.

as he should Rich. I think Donnie should stay in the job as long as he wants to. Wankertein/Gabriel/Grunwald going forward gives us front office stability. Whether it's one of them or Houston as the GM, as long as they all are on board, we should feel confident about the future.

If memory serves Wankertein signed Melo to his current contract..

Bad loss. Again, I think the short rotation is hurting the team, and I don't think the coach gets the most out of the talent when looking at both ends of the floor.

It's tough when you use a short rotation and one or two of your key guys go into the tank. These 4th quarter collapses need to stop.
