Carmelo Finally On The Way?
ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that a three way deal that would bring Carmelo to New York while sending Eddy Curry, Anthony Randolph and Wilson Chandler to Minnesota and Denver respectively. The Nuggets would also get Brewer in this latest scenario. This is something the Knicks should be jumping on, if true. Go Knicks!

I agree Phil, Knicks should make this happen NOW if possible. I also love the Warkentein hiring.. Hopefully this is a sign from Dolan that he will keep Donnie around.. IMO he should get to stay as long as he wants, and not just the option that has to be picked up
I discount all rumors like this until they are no longer rumors.
Stephen A. says the Carmelo camp is getting impatient with the Knicks and want a deal done. Spin?
Seems like they're just trying to help the Nuggets get more than Walsh is offering. Just like with the Laker rumor.
He later said that for months, Denver has asked for two of Gallo, Chandler, Fields, and the Knicks have said no.
Walsh is driving a proper bargain.
Terrible loss.
Nothing good about it. Amare lashed out at his teammates.
I agree with Hahn:
No, Donnie Walsh shouldn't feel threatened by attempts to leak the presence of the Lakers as a potential suitor or suggestions that Anthony may just stay in Denver. But he should feel threatened by how quickly his team is plummeting and how it may leave little to no margin for error after the trade deadline when one or more new faces will need a crash course on chemistry.
The schedule is allowing for it now. The time to act is now.
Of course Denver, as has been the case since the summer, has to be ready, too.
It's getting out of hand now, I know you say patience Phil, but how much more? Good thing is after tonight at Jersey (which they must win) only 1 game till the break...
For better or worse, I think the final decision on the Melo trade will be made by Dolan.
Part of the problem is that when you don't give a max defensive effort every night you're more susceptible to shooting slumps.
D'Antoni's team will never be great defensive teams, and that's a problem imo.
Apart from the merits of any given decision, I don't want D'Antoni making any.

“They don’t want to overbid,” the source said, “but they also don’t want to be left without a chair when the music stops.”
Though no formal offers have been made by the Knicks, it has been clear that – with the knowledge that Anthony prefers to be in New York with a three-year, $65-million extension as part of the trade – they believe they have some leverage in negotiations with Denver…Mike D’Antoni, two sources said, is putting up the most resistance against giving up so many young players. Donnie Walsh has long been in favor of adding Anthony, whom he has told confidants is one of the toughest players in the league.
MDA has to coach whoever is left so of course he will be the one portrayed as not wanting to trade guys. This is a franchise move.
Phil/Rich gut feelings Melo is or is not a Knick by the deadline?
I think he will be, Mike, because Dolan will insist that it gets done.
That's a fair point, Phil.
I still think they need a more defensive-minded coach, though.
I still think MDA is a good coach, and they just need a defensive coordinator, though defense in basketball is about effort, and that's gotta to come from the players at some point.
There have been several reports that Walsh wanted him to do that, but he has refused.
I think Thibodeau has shown that is it also about schemes as well as a coach's emphasis.
There seems to be a lot more talk that Felton/Billups will be a part of any Melo trade.
Right now, the key for me is to hold on to Gallo in any deal.
Likewise.
Billups is an asset either way, either via the buyout, or his expiring, which would help setup 2012...
Alan Hahn was on Evan Roberts today, and he seems to think it gets done next week.

“With the way he’s distanced himself from the team, the organization, they’re kidding themselves if they think he’s signing a new deal,” one league official told Yahoo! Sports. “He hasn’t checked out on the season because he never checked in.”…“Donnie isn’t going to make a one-sided deal and gut his team to get this done now,” said one league source who regularly speaks to Walsh. “He’ll end up with two unhappy stars because they have no supporting cast. But if Dolan gets more involved in this, he could really makes a mess of this.”

(The Knick Blog guy:)
There is no way the Knicks can put themselves in a position to be out of assets moving forward. They have to have some wiggle room when it comes to adjusting the roster. They also need to be able to support Amar’e from a rebounding standpoint and have some talent surrounding the group. Important to note, watch the Yahoo video, Adrian Wojnarowski admits something we strongly believe here that he doesn’t believe Isiah Thomas will be back.
I agree with your earlier post Rich, that he will be a Knick by the deadline.. Hahn has a new article up about it, and was confident on his interview with Evan Roberts yesterday
It's really a dicey situation.
I do trust Walsh though.
A very nice (and a much needed) win.
Indeed. Should I start a trade deadline thread?
Sure.
