10 and 1!

Phil Hughes moved to 10 and 1 today with a gutsy performance just when the Yanks needed one. Phil gave up 3 runs by way of 2 homers from Jose Reyes, then settled down to go 7 strong and take the 5-3 win. He is starting to use his change more and that will end up really helping. Curtis Granderson contributed the game winner with two run shot in the 4th. Tex also hit a two run jack. They still aren't getting the big hits with runners on, but they did enough today. Joba worked around a 2 out double in the 8th to K Wright. Mo pitched a perfect 9th. CC goes for the series win tomorrow. Go Yanks!

I actually like Gardner batting leadoff.

He's been a pleasant surprise. Although he's always adjusted to each level he's played at a year after moving up, so maybe I shouldn't be as surprised.

Gardner is making the case that he is, in fact, a Yankee.

Perhaps the plans for signing Crawford will be nixed this offseason due to the emergence of Gardner.

They better. Gardy's a bargain and Crawford will be overpaid.

I pray it was never truly in the plans to begin with, and nothing more than media speculation.

Cliff Lee or bust.
