Yanks Sweep!
So Jorge hit another grandslam today, just to get his picture up as the Yanks won 9-5, moving Phil Hughes's record to 9 and 1. The Yanks were grinding today and collecting 9 walks. With some luck on balls in play they might have scored a lot more. Cano homered and walked twice which is great. Phil was better than the 5 runs he gave up in 5.2 innings. Ted Barrett, the homeplate umpire made him get some extra outs over the first 5 innings, that really upped his pitch count, and then his D let him down in a 4 run sixth. Also, it was raining and that seemed to make him go away from his curve, which had been dominant early. Just a bunch of bad luck for Phil today, but he gets the win and keeps it going. Tomorrow is an off day, then it's CC vs. Halladay as the Phils come to town.
There've been no really interesting signings among the picks yet, but the preps that they plan to sign cannot sign their deals till after their HS classes graduate. So that will eat up a bunch of the month. Stay tuned.
Update: The Yanks have moved into a tie for first place.

Jorge is someone I wrongly underrated for too long.
Phil's only real remaining issue is that his pitch counts get too high too early. Mixing in some changeups might help reduce that problem, but it's becoming apparent that all the talk about his change in ST was a misdirection.
Yup, he just needs to make an adjustment. He will. I expect another hot streak out of him soon.
RIP Oscar Azocar.

Rest in peace, Oscar.
Brackman is coming on.
Time for Laird to move up to SWB.
