8-1

Andy worked 7.1 innings of 2 run ball to pick up his 8th win tonight, and his 200th as a Yankee. That's spectacular. Aside from the year he's having, defense independant stats show him to be a better HoF candidate than he is routinely understood to be. The other Yanks scored 3 in the first then stopped grinding, picking up one late run. Jeter made an error in the 8th on a ball he should have caught and continued a double play with. The runners were then sacrificed to second and third with a bunt, and Joba came in to get the final two outs, giving up an unearned run on a sac fly, then K'ing Berkman, his future teammate. Mo pitched a 1-2-3 9th. The Yanks haven't hit a homer in 3 games. And as we found out ARod is now day to day with a touch of hip flexor tendonitis. Javy Vazquez tries to keep it going tomorrow. Go Yanks!

On the signing front, Roller, Stevenson and Gipson have all signed, but none of the guys who signed today have yet been announced.

Berkman's coming to NY? Did he suddenly relent on his demand to have his option picked up?
