Torre Is Now Manager of the Dodgers

It seems Don Mattingly will join him on the staff and they want Kevin Long, too, though he will likely stay with the Yanks. This is good for Don cause his son is in the Dodger organization, and it's good for Joe cause he loves it out here, and he keeps a prestigious job. Good luck, guys, and don't poach any of our players!

Call me crazy Phil, but what if we shifted a few pieces and brought in Bonds for 1 year to replace A-Rod's power??

Who knows. Doesn't seem to be the direction we're heading for.

I agree that it's not the direction we are headed, but for the short term I think it works.

No Way they wouldnt want Bonds here with the whole steriod thing

Congrats to Joe and Don...hope they have a great year in LA

I agree good luck to Joe and Don in LA. Once the steroid names come out it is likely to die down. I know it probably won't happen but was just throwing something out for discussion

The Commish said he might suspend guys for past transgressions if they broke US laws. Could be interesting, especially if ARod is named.

That would be very interesting indeed Phil if A-Rod was named.

I was reading some stuff that possible SF was the team that tampered with A-Rod. Matt SGS at BBI believes A-Rod is going to LAA, and Matt is usually spot on with his info..

How will the picks work Phil? We will get the team that signs him's first rounder, and will MLB just add another one? If so I wonder if it's right after the first pick.

The Angels don't make enough money off their TV deals, etc. to afford to give ARod 300,000M without some pain.

I Heard Girardi would want Mike Harkey has Pitching Coach most likely

At 8:07 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Dan do you like Harkey as the PC, what about BPC, Bench Coach? Where would O'neill fit in?

At 8:10 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I don't know if the Yanks will go for Harkey. The kids all know Eiland.

At 8:17 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I Would have Eiland as PC, Bowa as Bench Coach, Pena as 3rd base coach, and o'neill as 1st base coach....BPC-dont know yet

Have they announced what time the press conference will be tomorrow

lol is it tomorrow

At 8:41 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

maybe or Wednesday. Maybe they're getting Mo and Po re-signed and will anounce everything at once.

At 9:01 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Girardi has officially accepted

At 9:03 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yup, they're suppose to have a conference call later.

At 11:40 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I am firmly in favor of this move. Now get Mo and Po done, and reform the team.

Do you know Phil how the picks we get for A-Rod will work in terms of where they are? I'd assume it's the teams 1st rounder that signs him, where would the 2nd 1st rounder come in?

At 11:43 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

we'd get a 1st, and a sandwich pick between the 1st and second rounds, unless it was a bottom 15 team in which case we'd get the sandwich pick and a 2nd rounder.

At 12:34 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Thank you Phil!. So we'd want the Angels to sign him, as the Giants and Dodgers would not net us as much..

At 12:34 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

We don't want an AL team to sign him.

At 12:39 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Oops :) not the Angels, I meant we'd want upper 15 NL team..

At 1:06 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

No, I haven't heard anything.

At 2:24 PM, Blogger Michael said...

I hope O'neill accepts, I am a big proponent of him on the staff. I think he adds alot.

At 4:48 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

it looks like O'Neill turned down the offer to become part of the pitching staff

At 5:35 PM, Blogger Michael said...

Would have been nice if O'Neill was on the staff. I thought I read somewhere that he was going to call Girardi today.

Who knows what happened with Paulie, he might not have been ready to hang out for a full season.
