Marcos Vechionacci

Nacci is the best 3B prospect in the Yankee system right now. He'll be 21 in 2008 and starting the season in AA. He looked like a future superstar as a 16 year old shortstop in rookie ball, but then the switch-hitter started to grow. He spent 2005 at short and third before finally settling in at third in 2006. Since then, his fielding has become major league ready, while his bat has shown flashes of being the special player he looked like as a 16 year old. Right now, he's hitting and hitting for some power in the Venezuelan Winter League. People in the Yankee system think he will eventually hit 20-25 homers a year and get on base at a plus rate. We need to hope he puts it all together in Trenton this year, and is ready to come up and play third for us some time in 2009. He remains a very good prospect and one the Yanks now must count on to some degree or another.
