Horror Stars

Peter Cushing (1913-1994) - Peter Cushing is one of the greatest actors of the Horror Genre. Though he played a variety of roles over his long career - including a damn good Sherlock Holmes - Cushing is best loved as Victor Frankenstein in the Hammer Frankenstein series and Van Helsing in the Hammer Dracula series. As Frankenstein, Cushing was far more corrupt and perverse than Colin Clive had been in the universal series. He is, on several levels, scarier than the monsters he creates. In other words, he rocks! And he was equally great as Van Helsing. Cushing's Van Helsing played a bit like an early Indiana Jones, not that the stunts were that great, but he was a far cry from the aged Van Helsing that was presented in Universal's Dracula.
