Cash Says No Gagne Deal At This Point

Is apparently Eric Gagne. The deal is reportedly Tyler Clippard, Jeff Marquez and a C prospect for Gagne, with the two teams still finalizing the Gagne's bonus payment. I have been a big fan of both Tyler Clippard and Jeff Marquez, but they had no future in the rotation with the other guys on the farm, and they should help the Rangers. I don't know who the C prospect is yet. He matters, too, but so far this is not a terribly painful deal. This no doubt means Proctor and Farnsworth will be traded. Hopefully Proctor will bring us Wilson Betemit and Farnsworth will bring us prospects.

UPDATE: Cash says we have no deal for Gagne at this point. So another internet hoax. We'll see what happens next.

Supposedly Stark reported this but now some are claiming it's fake, from NYYFans.com made it up.

I hope there will be a Gagne deal...

we're not getting him at this point.

So much for that... It seemed good for a bit..

it was certainly believable.

Definitely was believable. Let's hope Cash meant no deal yet... that one could possibly come about.

he said we're not getting him at this point. Lots of time left and if we weren't in it, he would have said, "we're not getting him."

Cash chose is words carefully. I agree plenty of time left. I think the rumored package would be what it would take to get it done. No mention of anything yet on Baseball Tonight. I have to think we are still in it based off Cash's comments.

In Cash we trust!!

Tabata didn't play today.

I know, and though I was told he would not be traded, I have heard that he is not universally valued in the organization. I hope they're just resting him and that Jackson's percieved blossoming has not made Tabata somewhat expendable in their eyes.

Gammons reiterates our interest in Gagne on Sportscenter, nothing noteworthy other then that.

If Tabata is traded for Gagne, we must sign him long term.

If Tabata us traded for Gagne, we must find another team to root for. He's not getting traded for a rental and would require a young superstar coming back if he were part of a trade.

I don't see us trading for a young superstar that would warrant Tabata to be traded for. The rumored package earlier would be about the limit I would pay for Gagne. Is it true if he walks we would get 2 draft picks? If so that makes it a bit easier to accept.

Peter Abraham thinks there is a deal to be made for Gagne.

I don't think there is either, and that's why I doubt Tabata's getting traded.

It's nice to see that we are using restraint and not just giving our top prospects away, as in years past.
