Jovo or Morris to the Rangers?????????
Scary rumor out of Phoenix: Ed Jovanovski to the Rangers for Pock, Prucha, Korpikoski plus a 2 in `08 and a 4 in `09. This comes from the Phoenix side, so let's hope they are overestimating any payment due them if this is in fact the Trade the Rangers have been working on all day. The scary thing is, is that last week or the week before, I was told Pock and two forwards would be used to get a top 4 defenseman. I could not envision those forwards being Prucha and Korpikoski. Let's hope this isn't the case. Blessed Update: The Ranger trade target may actually be Derek Morris. Prucha would still be in that deal, but not the other parts as mentioned above. Probably someone like Malik would go with Prucha for cap purposes. This would be much better and I hope it is closer to the truth.

I hope Phoenix folks are over-exaggerating this. I am not sold on Jovo anyway with his injury history.

Hearing Prucha in but no picks or Pock at this point. It's gotta be a big salary or two with Prucha, it can't be a prospect.
got an update that the target is Derek Morris not Jovo.
What's the asking price? Would he be considered the top 4 D-man? Would Souray be out then? or are we planning on sending someone back?
Prucha and someone like Malik. He'd be the top 4 D-man, but I don't think that would eliminate Souray.
I could live with Prucha and Malik. There has to be something else brewing if this deal happens I'm guessing another D-Man is moved for Souray..

Oh... This should be interesting. BTW. I read Shane's post on Souray and still do not believe it. If he winds up there it would surprise me. Either way I think we will come up with something good.
Prucha is the centerpiece of a trade we are making.

The Devils are looking at another option apparently he really wants to be a Ranger. If he does accept their offer it will go against everything I am being led to believe, as it will be purely a money move. Devils will have to pay more then we will to get him.
I think Sourey does really want to be a Ranger.
That's what I have been hearing from the beginning. My guy can't confirm but he thinks that Shanny has contacted Souray as well. Basically told him to sit tight while Glen takes care of other matters. Sather really wants him, Beside the power play he feels he will add some grit. If he goes to NJ it will be for the money only. I hope things begin to happen for us on this front and others soon.
BTW way to go tonight Yanks keep giving the lead back.

I think Sourey and the Dman we trade for will be joining us. I also think Malik and probably Mara will be gone as a result.
I agree with you that Mara and Malik wilmoveable. I will take Souray and our traded D-man over Mara and Malik any day. What those who are bashing Souray forget is that he will add grit and toughness. If anyone watched the games vs Rangers alone last year they saw how agitating he can be. I have long wanted someone who will get in someones face especially if they get a bit feisty near Hank.

Good luck. Morris has lots of talent but the production doesn't match. He was shockingly bad in his own end from what i saw on center ice, big regression from earlier in his career. Maybe it's Phoenix. A team with that much talent on the blueline and CuJo should not give up almost 300 goals.
kbird, some of the guys think Morris looked bad cause everyone else of Phoenix did, too.
As you can tell we are a little bit at loose ends over who is coming and going right now. I hope we have the picture by late tonight.

Quite possible , he'd certainly have a stronger defensive system to play in. His salary is more manageable in light of the current market.
Snow's signings are a decent start. I'm happiest with the short term commitments, easily converted into other assets should we suck. 2 more dmen and I'll be more optimistic. Certainly beats monday.
Till he can't move any more Guerin will score, and be valuable at the deadline if it makes sense to move him. I don't understand how anyone underestimates him.

Back when he was free agent the year we signed Holik, I was hoping we would get Guerin. He will definitely produce, and will be a hot commodity come trade deadline time.
I wanted Geurin over Holik, too.
Kbird, I know you guys are talking to Phoenix about Jovo from what I heard earlier, and ideally want to add 2 d-men.
A respected source from an Islander board is hearing that Jovo isn't coming. Snow hoped that yesterday's signings would entice him but he is refusing the island. Who knows at this point.
I want Markov and one of Sutton/Vish/Vaananen anyhow.

Looks like the Devils for Sutton. I haven't heard anything about your other targets.
I know initially Jovo had refused Kbird. I was told that the Isles sweetened the offer to Phoenix so they would reapproach Jovo. I had not heard anything beyond that.
I hope we get some confirmation on something soon.

Seabrook has been my top choice, too and the name most regularly associated with Prucha's over the past year.
My top choice as well. Seabrook has more of his career in front of him then behind him. He could be a part of the core D for years. Getting Souray along with him who is more of a leader then Malik or Mara would be an added benefit.
