Frickin' Forsberg?
We are awaiting a Sam Weinman update on a rumor we heard and tried to shoot down yesterday. Apparently, it's true: Peter Forsberg will be a Ranger (if he can still skate). We're waiting for confirmation, but this signing would really raise more questions than it would answer and further marginalize the likes of Cullen, Betts and several others. If he can skate, this is still one of the best players on earth. Of course that seems like a huge IF.

This is actually me, and unfortunetly i am telling you the truth. But the rangers are trying to lock up Forsberg to a 1 year deal, but the senetors are really being persistent. So its either Rangers or Senetors. Ill investigate.

no details yet, but Islanders may make 2 trades The first one fell apart. In a separate deal they tried for Marleau but could not agree on terms w SJ.

You are welcome!! Only Ranger thing I heard is that they have some deals in the works, which tie in directly with Souray. NJ is supposedly in the Souray bidding, and may outbid us. I know we want him but do not want to break the bank.I heard a couple things on NYI which I posted for BBI.
If NJ does outbid for Souray, I'd expect an even bigger push on the trade front. Zidlicky was tossed around previously, but I don't know if the Preds are in full sale mode any longer.
We're gonna pick up a real defenseman through trade. Souray is mostly for the PP.
I would definitely agree that we are going to trade for a front line D-Man. Slats is doing a good job of building for the future along with going for it now. Just has to be smart whom he trades away and for whom. I still don't think we are out of it on Souray as we already have the years down. Either way I think we are going to get for sure 1 D-Man possibly 2.
It's a race to get our cap in order so we can keep our guys and get Souray.
I think you hit the nail right on the head. Malik/Cullen/Mara could all conceivably be gone. From everything I can gather we will definitely be making cap clearing moves for picks and players.
I think that's true. We should have Lundqvist and Shanny and Avery and Prucha signed this week, so we'll probably also see a trade.
I think so too. Lundy/Avery/Shanny/Prucha will all get done soon and a trade will be coming. My guy just told me that Shanny is still helping us recruit FA's, and that Lamoriello could be on the verge of overpaying for Souray. He does not think it makes sense for NJ b/c he thought they should have paid it for Rafalski which was a better fit for them. We are in the hunt but are not going to overpay and have our other plans ruined he says.
