Breaking: The Giants Trade OBJ to the Browns

The Giants just traded the greatest passcatcher in the history of the franchise to the Cleveland Bowns, for the 17th pick in the 2019 Draft, a 3rd round pick, and S Gibril Peppers.  They also added S Antoine Bethea on a 2 year deal earlier today. He's 34 or something but has been productive. I can't believe this crap.

It’s also racist.

Trading Porzingis was genius compared to this.

It was just as stupid as trading KP. Though KP was the most talented Knick and OBJ was probably only the second best Giant after Saquon.

The difference imo is Porzingis didn’t want to be here and the trade gives them the opportunity, which they may not be able to exploit, to make the franchise elite.

Seems like they soured the relationship with KP, and made it a fait accompli. I blame both teams for not being able to manage a relationship with a young superstar.

It’s weird. For some reason this pisses me off way way way more.

That's weird. It feels the same to me. Even though the Giants could end up doing very well again in the draft and the Knicks will need luck again to do well.

I think I’m just becoming apathetic about the Giants because I think Mara is a lying sack of shit.

I don’t like Dolan, but I don’t see him as a liar.

I hate liars.

I called this in the other thread. Knew it was happening and knew the return would be extremely underwhelming.

Cue the media articles that will say he's a pain in the ass, a terrible teammate and a distraction and management was fed up. It's the only way they can save face by disparaging him when every teammate and player in the locker room says he's the an unbelievable teammate and not a distraction.

I might become a Browns fan. We have zero direction and no matter how good Barkley is, we're already wasting his prime and this is another loss season.

Also, HOW IS ELI STILL ON THIS TEAM?!!! WTF

Wow, we may disagree on the Yankees at times but we are 100% in agreement on this cluster fuck.

So, as an outside observer, is it accurate to say the Yankees are run by bean counters, while the Giants and Knicks are run by ignoramuses?

Giants MUST go defense @ 6. They are going to be TERRIBLE this year, no need to draft a mediocre QB prospect just to do it when odds are great you'll be top 3 next year when it's a significantly better class.

Basically.

Basketball, as you know, is unique because there are a small number of players who are good enough to give a team a chance to win a championship, and you need at least two of them.

Also, Dolan has never been shy about spending, but the salary cap limits what money alone can do. In other words, when, for example, LeBron was a free agent in 2010 maybe he would’ve offered him $100 million a year or some crazy number if he could. So instead he has spent but spent foolishly, and hired people that weren’t that competent.

The Giants had benefited for a long time by being forced by the NFL commissioner in 1979 to hire a competent GM. His work and most of the people he hired put them on a decent path until about seven or eight years ago. And they would’ve been even more successful during the last 15-20 years of they have retained Bill Belicheck.

Another part of the trade is that we get our 4th back from the Zeitler trade and they get back the 5h. Could, and almost has to be a HUGE DRAFT. If we sign a right tackle today, it really frees up up the draft.
