Yankees Buying Back YES
The Yanks have reached a deal to re-acquire the part of the YES Network they had previously sold from Disney. YES had gone to Disney in the Fox merger. It was thought that Amazon was also treing to get it. The Yanks will pay 3.4B, but their franchize value will soar even higher, and self sustenance is good. Doubt this had anything to do with their baseball moves.
Actually, the above is wrong. Apparently they are only increasing their stake to 30% of the network. They had retained 20% after the original sale. Not sure what this does for them.

Amazon is part of the acquiring group.
The programming is awful, imo.

How much are the Yanks getting back, then?
Charlie Gasparino is usually pretty good on this stuff:
SCOOP: @Yankees increase ownership in @YESNetwork to 30% in $3.4b purchase that includes @WeAreSinclair @blackstone @amazon as investors. FBN has learned Amazon has the third largest stake, a share thats smaller than Yankees and another financial player. More now @FoxBusiness
The Yanks had retained 20% after the original deal with Fox. So, 10% more is worth 3.4B?
I took that to mean the entire purchase price.
SCOOP: Talks btw bidders/bankers for sale of the other 21 Fox RSNs resumes Monday @Disney bankers Allen & Co and JPM desperately trying replicate YES Network valuation for others to fetch $9B to $10B for other RSNsPLUS: @Yankees increase their stake of @YESNetwork to 30% more now
If they added 30% nore, then they are at 50%, though mg guess in that scenario would be 51%
A Stantonian Blast!
Birtton induces a DP!
I guess Michael King is ok judging by the video he posted on Twitter today.
Good.
It’s only spring training and small sample success can quickly appear to be illusory (Tulo?), but there are some nice quotes by Judge on Florial here:
