The Yanks are apparently signing Troy Tulowitzki, pending a physical, which given his history over the past few years he will or won't pass. I'd expect it's for the Neil Walker role and not as fill in for DiDi or anything. Sort of an odd move.
Bob Klapisch: Chris, I think there’s a 60-40 probability that Machado does sign with the Yankees. Ownership and the front office is still deeply divided. If Machado wears Pinstripes in 2019, it won’t be by unanimous decision.
Speaking of Didi, I’m wondering if a two-year, team-friendly deal is the way to go. Just don’t think it’s realistic to bank on him being 100 percent this season, and a two-year deal lets the team get at least one more good season in 2020, presumably.
Mike, I've been of the belief that you should sell high on Didi. I know now his injury precludes that, I think they need to move on from Didi. No reason to move Andujar, leave him and 3rd, and make Manny the new SS.
It doesn’t sound like this Machado decision is happening anytime soon. If reports are to be believed, it sounds like a game of chicken and that’s not surprising because it’s almost always about money.
Curry When Cashman was asked if Tulowitzki signing takes the Yankees out of the pursuit of Machado, he said, "I can't say what it would take us out of, but we're re going into this w/ a commitment level to try Troy Tulowitzki at SS." Me: I still think Yanks are very much in on Machado
Cashman declined to discuss specifics about Machado, but said he has had conversations with Machado's agent since their meeting in NY. He also said that the Yankees kept Machado's agent informed as they moved toward signing Tulowitzki.
Thus kind of continues the past commitments to Drew, Roberts, Walker, and now Tulo. I hope it’s good because he will probably play regardless. I don’t love that mindset.

It’s not like he can be counted on to stay healthy.
Yankee frugality is so fan unfriendly.
Good move at league minimum to play SS until Didi is ready.

The signing is OK on its face it’s just that he’s likely to break down; they just don’t know when.
