Happ Watch
So, JA Happ has left the Blue Jay dugout amid talks that the Yanks, Phills and one or two others are trying to acquire him. If he really has left, someone probably has. If it's the Yanks, it all depends on the cost. He's another rental, but could stabilize the rotation and if he gets hot, could start a playoff game.
No Updates. But the Yanks have been 14-14 over their last 28 and that just won't work.

Was gonna do a Giants Stuff thread a little later, but I agree YAY!!!
Heyman
Jays originally sought Clint Frazier or Justus Sheffield for Happ. That was when yanks saw happ price as too high. Can’t see nyy doing that for rental, and they’ve offered others. Still talking. Brewers also interested. M’s, too. Maybe cubs, others.
I like Happ if it's for low level minor leaguers.
Frazier and Sheffield are laughable.
Happ is fine if brought in on a bargain but the bigger issue is the rotation as a whole, which they can’t really fix until the offseason, as well as the offense’s inability to hit with RISP. Not sure they can fix the latter this season either.
Where can they upgrade? Third base, but they shouldn’t. Centerfield? Probably not worth it. So that leaves Left field and shortstop. That’s where they need to focus
I know some people would say catcher, but all they did was stockpile catchers for years and if Sanchez isn’t the guy, and I think he is , it was for nothing.
Yanks looking at Hamels.
Rather have Happ.
Oh and you can obviously get a second baseman and move Torres to shortstop. Also some people would say first base, same as Third Base for me

The more I read about Hamels the more it seems he might have negative value. So if the Rangers want to pick up his contract and give him away for virtually free, OK. And if he wants to play with his no trade clause, I’d say enjoy Texas
Drury for Happ? They gave up a lot for Drury and the BJs probably want more.
Rich, here's Boone's quote on why he bunted Didi:
"Just the lefty-lefty matchup there and knowing they’d walk [Stanton], but what’s the tradeoff?” Boone said of his thinking. “Do you like the bases loaded, one out with Hicks from the right side? We did, and we liked getting Alvarado off the mound in a fielding situation as well. We got the situation that we wanted. If Didi doesn’t get it done, they can go to the righty for Stanton.”
Nothing here says he's not good versus the lefthander. I can never fault a manager for using probability and logic when making decisions.
He still acknowledges not liking him against the lefty though.
I prefer Stanton especially when he’s going 4-4.
I’m not a big Hicks fan because it’s usually six unconscious weeks and then meh. Although I like him better than Didi.
Players go through slumps. It happens.
My guess is that players with lower AVG slump more often and longer.
Yanks closing in on Happ per Sherman with Drury as the main piece.
If only we had a transformative pitching coach
Seems like a deal could be McKinney as well
Drury and McKinney.
McKinney is a true CF'er. Hate to give him up.
It’s a lot
