Aaron Judge Wins AL ROY
All Rise! Aaron Judge has won what should be a quinella of major offseason awards by capturing the AL Rookie of the Year award. He got 143 out of 146 votes, witch Boston's Benitendi getting two from some inbred New England hacks, and Jordan Montgomery getting one, probably from a Yankee scribe who understood where the other 143 votes were going. This was the gimme. The AL MVP is a gimme, too, but I don't, nor should any of you, trust the voters to get that one right. He had a better season than Altuve on O and D, but we'll have to see if the dumbass crew who gave IRod 2 MVP's he didn't earn, can get this one right.

Joel Sherman is reporting Rothschild will be back.
As what?
It’s almost as if this is a message to the new manager that the FO is the primary decision maker in every area.
Axisa on the Stanton train

ORLANDO — The Yankees wanted to interview Bob Melvin for their vacant manager’s job, and the A’s refused to grant permission.
He was on the Yelich train the other day. Wonder why he switched. Of course, I've been on the Stanton train since the deadline.
Erik Boland: Cashman also said Gleyber Torres will come to camp with an opportunity to win the starting job at 3B.
I wish this team wasn’t so infatuated with Castro.
Great news. I am sure we will hear the Castro trade rumors to clear salary.
Whatever they feel about Castro, if tbey have any intention of trading him, they have to refer to him as the starting second baseman.
They didn't want Gleyber playing 2B before he got hurt, but that might have been because they are so worried about Headley slump that they wanted to get him reps and 3rd in a hurry. Though, I do think we should be looking to get Didi out of the way for him.
They seem smitten with Didi. Admittedly, he is better than I thought, and it was a very good trade, but I worry about how he ages as a hitter.
Chad Green to start. Clint blocked.
Cashman said Chad Green will be brought to ST as a starter with "the reliever situation as a fallback. But nothing certain yet. U can’t disregard how exceptional he was in the role he had but at the same time he didn’t find himself in that role because he was a failed starter."

Cashman said that Clint Frazier is "currently blocked with the (outfield) surplus we have in New York. He's part of our depth right now, even though he's got ceiling and he's an exciting young talent."
Didi doesn't get on base enough, and creates too many outs per ab. Also, he wasn't a gold glove candidate at SS. Sell high.
I think Clint is getting traded.
Dodgers in on Stanton per Feinsand.
Cashman better not get too cute, or overplay his hand.
NO BELTRAN?
The Daily News has learned that Carlos Beltran will likely not be one of the Yankees' managerial candidates.
Beltran, who announced his retirement Monday, is headed to his native Puerto Rico Wednesday to help with the hurricane relief efforts there, and is likely to take some time off before considering any managing/coaching opportunity.
Beltran told two reporters Sunday in Manhattan that managing is on his wish list, and the Yankees think very highly of Beltran. It's possible he could be offered a coaching/scouting job with the team in the future.
Hensley Meulens, who will interview for the vacancy is considered to be a "strong" candidate. USA TODAY reported the interview would take place on Friday. Aaron Boone will also interview.
btw, I really like shifting Green back to the rotation. He may now have the confidence to finally put it all together as a starter.
Green talking about his evoking stuff:

Evolving
If we get Otani, there is no room for Green in the rotation.
I think their plan is to assess his upside there. He greatly exceeded expectations in the pen because his FB command and breaking ball improved. If he is able to refine a third pitch, cutter or change, he could exceed expectations again.
And somehow they always need a 6th starter.
Brian Cashman said today that he has not yet reached out to everyone who will be considered for the managerial job. In other words, the search is still in the very early stages.

Source: Dodgers third-base coach Chris Woodward is a candidate for the Yankees’ managerial opening. No interview has been scheduled yet. Woodward was in camp with the Yankees in 2008 but never played for them. He managed Team New Zealand in the 2016 WBC.
Going to England for a few days starting on the 23rd but back the 26th or 27th. I hope they don't pull the trigger on a new Manager while I'm gone.
Have a safe and fun trip Phil!!!
That’s when they will trade for Stanton. ;)
This guy actually makes a living from sports journalism:
“Hell no,” said Brian Cashman to Jon Morosi when asked about moving Sanchez to DH earlier this week — so there is no need for a starting catcher. The Yankees could use a new backup though.

I love that he hates the Red Sox.
Hal Steinbrenner said that he and Brian Cashman both agreed that a managerial change was necessary, based upon the last 2-3 years. Steinbrenner had decided that even before Cashman’s recommendation.
Hal wants starting pitching depth. That may explain the intention of using Green as a starter.
I wonder if Girardi alienated them north with his personality or his managing? It is kind of strange that his biggest constituency is in the fan base and the media.
Heyman: Yanks 1 of 8 teams who inquired about Stanton.
Who is a dealbreaker: Torres? Shefflield?
We won't give tip top guys for that contract and they are gonna have to take back one of our contracts. I've thought Frazier would be the top prospect in it.
