Yankees Offseason Week 3

Today, the Yanks finally acted Jake Cave (along with re-adding Nick Rumbelow) to their 40 man roster. While this is a great tribute to Jake's perseverance, it's also a reminder that the Yankees need to make some trades or they are going to get murdered in the Rule V draft.  They have a ton of guys to add, including some lower level pitchers like Jonathan Loisiga, who haven't pitched full season, but are big time strike throwers that major league teams would be thrilled to seize and stash in their bullpens for a year.  Screw that.  Make the room!

Also today, Brian Cashman spoke to the press.  Sadly, the misguided scribes focused more of their questions on Joe Girardi (what's gone is gone, morons) and not on the Reese choice, nor were they able to get a single name off of what Cash promises is a big list from which the new manager will emerge.

Finally, Aaron Judge is one of the 3 finalists for AL Rookie of the Year, and Luis Severino is a finalist for AL Cy Young.  I assume Judge has one more group of finalist to join, and win, for AL MVP but I don't know when their unveiling those.

Maybe we'll learn the names of some candidates this week.

From everything you can garher it seems(rightfully sir) we will be bargain shopping this winter. Nothing overly excited about. Someone like Avila perhaps to replace Romine? I suspect once under the luxury tax, come next off-season, based on the upcoming seasons results will be the spending spree.

As for who could do it better, that remains to be seen. Brad Ausmus is reportedly currently near the top of the Yankees’ list. Though seemingly a long shot, it’s possible the next Yankees manager could be Alex Rodriguez. Cashman didn’t discount the theory, and some Yankee players think he’d be a good choice. As for his media savvy credentials, A-Rod is currently an analyst on Fox Sports. So, he ticks that box, for sure.

Ted Williams was a horrible manager, and he's the only guy in ARod's stratosphere who tried it. I do think that he does have a connection with most of the kids in the system and even through the lawsuits and all the other stuff he considers himself a Yankee, can calls them "we" like we do.

Also, he wasn't an identify the ball and hit it, he would try to figure out what the pitcher was gonna throw. And I'm not sure all that guessing will work with the all the analytics.
