Cashman Arrives in Orlando
So, Brian Cashman has arrived in Orlando for the GM Meetings, which start tomorrow and run till Wednesday. Cash did reveal that there would be no further manager interviews till Thursday, so nothing to look for there. However; Cash has made deals at these meeting begore including the Murphy for Hicks deal two years ago. He's currently in a place where he has to make room on the 40 man roster, so it might behoove him to get going.

My hope is he makes some upper prospect deals. I hate to develop talent and let it go for nothing in return..
I hate the Sherman proposal of Frazier in a package for Samardzija. He is league average in the AL and I am not giving up on Frazier except for Yelich types.
Frazier for Notre Dame, big fat passssss.. waste of assets. Keep Frazier, thank you.
I'm willing to trade Frazier but only for elite talent, which Samardzjia is not. Stanton, yes, Yelich maybe. But those levels.
Right. Keep Frazier unless the talent in return is high-end.
Stanton? Wait for Harper?I think depending upon how th infield shakes out Machado would be he fit for third. I say sell high on Hicks.
My rationale for wanting Stanton now instead of Harper later, is I think we're ready to win in 2018, and Stanton is a beast who is already part way through his price fixed contract, while Harper is a beast who has not yet started his bigger and longer FA contract. We can keep both Judge and Stanton healthy by rotating them through DH with Otani.
I totally get the rationale, and it makes sense. My rationale for Harper is the lefty in Yankee stadium would have major power numbers(not that Stanton) won’t.) Harper or Stanton with Judge in the OF is going to be dynasty material alone.. Otani is the type of player we should be looking for, in terms of his raw talents. I wonder if #2 would be willing to trade with his old team?Denbo would surely know the system, Cash would have to limit the cost as much as possible.... Either way I see us getting one of these big name bats, and possibly more...
Clearing payroll should be the No. 1 priority.
Of course, the money has to work and salary would have to be shed to get Stanton, otherwise, forget it. But I see a bunch of salary that must be moved anyway and a bunch coming off so it might be workable.
I think another advantage to getting Stanton is that he and Judge are mechanically similar and can keep each other correct and give the new hitting coaches enough to keep them both correct.
As an aside, it’s time to either heavily subsidize Ellsbury’s contract in order to facilitate a trade, or eat it. It is no longer tenable for him or the franchise for him to be the 25th man on the roster, and handling that will complicate any new manager’s job.
Actually, since they probably won’t be willing to take on Stanton’s contract without an offset, including Ellsbury along with significant young talent might work, savings the Marlins a lot in the aggregate, while enabling the Yankees to be within the Hal Cap and still get better.
I'd think Ellsbury would have to be going as the offset or going to the Mariners in a three team mix.
Maybe so.
Another way to stay under $197m would be to trade Gardner and Castro and big prospects. That would save the Marlins even more.
It could be done that way, as I want to definitely get rid of Castro and Ells, at a minimum this offseason and would be willing to part with Gardy and Didi for the right price and bless anyone who will take Headley.
As soon as Gleyber and Torres are ready, Castro and Headley should be shipped.
Gleyber is Torres, do you mean Gleyber and Andujar?
Beltran is retiring. He seems to have finally interest in managing the NYY.
Players seem to love him. A-Rod without any drama?
Rich, just posted a new one about Beltran.
