Rob Thomson Interviews for Manager's Job
Word is out that 28 year organizational veteran, Rob Thomson is interviewing today for the open manager's job. I wouldn't be disappointed if he got the job, but I would be disappointed if he was no longer with the organization. I think they do lose something when guys like Brian Butterfield, Trey Hillman or a Rob Thomson move on. So, hopefully, he's either the manager, or a coach or an executive again. He is Yankee.

I agree if not hired he should get a role with the Yanks. With that said though, i think he has a legit shot at the managers position.
No to Thomson.
I think and hope it will be someone younger and edgier.
“I wouldn’t turn down an interview,” Cone said Wednesday night. “It’s a difficult job. It’s a prestigious job and I know there’s a process in place to find the right guy.”
Cone added he’s talked to Cashman “a couple of times” since Girardi’s departure and the GM “didn’t say no, as of yet,” to the idea of getting a chance to interview.

Flaherty is interested too, but who cares?
I would be really shocked to see Cashman hire someone with zero coaching experience such as Cone or Flaherty without having an experienced bench coach by this side.
Ausmus seems like a Cashman type of hire...
He does.
And really, I don’t think experience is particularly meaningful. First, baseball managers don’t matter much strategically. Second, to the degree that they do, an experienced bench coach can compensate for a manager’s inexperience.
Cash has probably know Ausmus forever. Was there word of an interview?
Interest was mentioned in a Fortune article I posted on another thread. Strange source for sports, I know.

I wonder if Aaron Boone would be better than Bucky Dent was.
He wouldn’t be my choice (unless he is very different than I would guess from his ESPN work), but he would have way more talent.
Nippon Ham Fighters announced Ohtani’s posting. Hopefully that means a new posting agreement has been reached behind the scenes.
