Yankees Offseason Week 4
Cash is at the GM Meetings in Orlando. Aaron Judge just signed a Pepsi deal, and should, unless a massive conspiracy is afoot, will win the AL Rookie of the Year this evening. More immediately interesting than any of that stuff, is that Carlos Beltran just retired. Now that is someone they should be talking to about their vacant manager job. Beltran was always considered a bright and approachable star, and though I think he's a Hall of Famer, I think he might be that rare great player who can also impart. Ted Williams was not, and I'm not sure whether ARod would be or not.

With an experienced bench coach, the transition could be very smooth.
Phil, in reply to your post in the other thread, yes, I meant Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar.
In response to the idea proposed by this post, I could get down with Beltran as manager. The more I think about it, the less I feel managerial experience is necessary considering the manager will basically act as a go-between for the players and front office. As far as an experienced bench coach goes, could they convince Trey Hillman to come over from Korea and do it?

Yeah, his family being in New York is the key to this IMO. I don't think A-Rod wants to be a part of the grind at this point in his life.
Needs to be considered. Seems like a bright guy that everyone loves.
Coyote, I'm down with Thomson staying or the guy from the Phillies or Trey or any numver of older savvy guys.
Boone, Meulens to be interviewed next:

I remember when Bam Bam was thought to be the next big thing.
Ausmus is out as he wants to take a year off.
Sweeny Murti:
“Before spring training in 2016 Carlos Beltran asked for one of the young players to be moved into his corner of the clubhouse so that he could help mentor him, talk to him during all the downtime about anything that came up. The player was Aaron Judge.”
Don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’re reading what we are about him.

The Yankees like the just retired Carlos Beltran as a potential managerial candidate, according to an official with knowledge of the situation. Yankees' GM Brian Cashman has always been a big fan of Beltran's on and off the field. It will be up to Cashman's discretion if he has Beltran in for an interview.
Think of the staff the universally loved Beltran could put together.
Beltran seems like the obvious choice, no?
Nice Milb signing today of Catcher Chace NUmata...As per Pinstripe Prospects..
Yup, we've been organizationally thin at catcher for awhile.
