Yanks: The Yanks must beat the Twins Tuesday behind Luis Severino. Severino is an absolute ACE, but the Twins jumped on him early two starts ago. That said, Boston jumped on him once. But just once. I think he will be hard to beat on Tuesday, and it will be all hands on deck. The Yanks will be facing Ervin Santana and his poor ERA, and one thing this Yankee team have been a little allergic to this year has been mediocre pitching. But it's a new season and they are ahead of schedule, let's go on a magic run.
Giants: The Giants got reffed last week, and a rule was misapplied to deny them of victory. That said, they still must win tomorrow and in the second half of last week's game, they showed us why they might finally be ready to. Only three teams that started 0-3 have made the playoffs, but they're pretty recent. And like the 4 minute mile, once one person did it, it will be done repeatedly. So why not the Giants? Getting Goodson back tomorrow.
Rangers: the Rangers start their real games Thursday and it will be interesting to see how AV deploys Buch and Fil. He's always had ridiculous standards for kids while allowing vets all the leeway in the world to screw up. So best of luck to the whole team, but especially the kids.
Knicks: the Knicks will start playing preseason games this week but might be without KP who has a knee bruise. It should give us the first chance to see Frank, who missed summer league with a knee bruise. Euros and their knees. Btw, I just realized both Frank and the Rangers' Sean Day were born in Belgium. What are the odds?
Big week coming right up, and I pray it's a great week for all of us!

If the Giants lose again, I want them to go 0-16.
So do I, but I'd still want them to lock uo OBJ.
Rich I'm with you..Buz,.I don't feel OBJ Is worth the money it will take to sign him...His baggage will kill this team at the price he is looking for . It hurts to let such talent go but in the long run i think you will see it was the right decision .
But, for the sake of argument, if they trade him, I don’t trust Reese to get a max return.
He is so good and so important to this team, that they would need a Herschel Walker-like return, otherwise they would be setting themselves back for multiple years.
So if a new, super competent GM came in, and he could do that, maybe that could be accomplished.
Alternatively, an equally super competent new coach might be able to reset the rules of the road for him
There are so few players who can single-handedly impact the game the way he does (and he is doing it with a putrid running game and equally putrid play calling).
So they have to tread very carefully.
Per RAB: The Yankees announced they will extend the netting next year. It's about time.

I can see Girardi pulling Sanchez for Romine in a close game on Tuesday.

So no one but a PR person contact the family of the toddler who suffered multiple facial fractures. This might be part of some misguided legal strategy, but it’s disgraceful. It’ typifies Levine’s Yankees, and that is imputed to Hal. I suspect George would have handled this differently.
From everything I've read on the man, George absolutely would have handled it differently. At the very least, he'd have paid her medical bills.
Two moves could have overcrome Reese’s incompetence: Gurley instead of Flowers, and a trade up for Conklin over Apple.
Since the bizarrely arrogant Mara isn’t going anywhere, and Tisch seems to be completely deferential, every other football person needs to be fired no mattter how many meaningless wins they stumble in to.

Could have taken Taylor Decker instead of Apple without a trade.
Romine had a passed ball that cost them the game in in 162. They have to upgrade the backup C spot this offseason.

Both GB and Coppollelo were former Yankee execs. Don't know about Gordon, but Copp might be a good fit for the Denbo job.

For me, anything the Yankees do next is a bonus, as we've already seen positive development from several young players, as well as the farm system continuing to be strong. That said, I hope they prove everyone wrong this October.

Sucks for Severino, but given that that was his first postseason start in his life — at any level — it’s understandable.
On the bright side, Green is proving himself to be a part of the solution for the next several years at least.

Major, major props to Girardi for his managing tonight. Has to be the best-managed game of his career, right?
