Rangers Stuff

In cutting down, the Rangers loaned Lias Andersson back to Frolunda in Sweden and and so far they are keeping Filip Chytil, who was playing #2 C in practice today.  Seems like the Rangers were expecting it to work out the other way around when they took Lias at 7 and Chyti with their natural pick. It's early and I'm hoping it's not a Jagielo/Judge thing, but it does seem like they took a flyer on upside, like the Yanks did with Judge, and it could be ready to pay off.  Buch was skating with the 1's.  DeAngelo was third pair with Staal.

I wished we could have moved Staal this summer...

I loved the Chytil pick, easy to say now everyone is thinking. Saying that, the Anderson pick was far from a mistake. This guy is future Captain material and I expect unless he lights it up every night, Chytil will be back with his team in Europe after 9 games. Chytil from what I have seen is at the right place at the right time, great instincts.

Trading aging stars for draft picks and young talent is key. You need balance, alot of the current Ranger leaders are 2-3 years apart and now hitting their bigger $$ deals age. We can't keep them all, so freeing up cap space and developing future stars is the way to go.

I think Chytil is the goods and that he will be here for years to come. He's better than Kovalev was when Kovy seemed so unlimited, because his instincts are a match for his talent, whereas, Kovy's never quite did.

And make no mistake, I think Andersson is a ringer, too, and wouldn't be surprised at all if he's a future captain.
