Yanks Clinch a Wild Card!

The Yanks are officially ahead of schedule.  Greg Bird slugged a 3 run jack, and that was pretty much that, though the Yanks added two more runs late.  Sonny Gray gave up a jack, but precious little else in his 6 inning start.  Then it was Green, DRob and Chapman and that was that.  They could not have done it without Judge, Sanchez, Severino and the other kids.  And that what's made them so fun to watch so often this season.  And they're only going to get better.  But what the hell?  Let's win it this year and start the new Dynasty, now.

Pretty big deal considering where this team was just a year ago — and they could be even better next year if they have a good offseason.

Postseason clinched. That three young players emerged as stars makes this special.

Let’s check some other boxes.

The only thing that prevented them from running away with the division was an inconsistent pen, for the first time in a long time.

Also, Sanchez missing a month, and Bird being misdiagnosed for multiple months. And Didi missed 3 weeks.

I will also give credit to Girardi for largely sticking with Bird, and watching it pay off.

Bird's had two crazy year's in a row. He deserves a massive post season.

I would love that too.

Judge pushing toward 50.

That’s crazy especially when you consider his nearly two-month swoon.

Mike, as I mentioned a while back, you really called the bottom on his slump. WTG.

Without the motivation to dig too deeply, Gray’s ERA+ is much much better than Quintana’s this season.

What did I say was the end of his slump? That HR in the last game against the Sox? He drove that ball with such authority I just figured the timing was back.

Also, considering the rookie HR record, how large is this awful replay decision looming right about now?

OK, I'm not sure what the problem there was, so just cut and paste this address:

I don’t member the details, but there was a point when he started hitting again when you said you thought you he turned it around. And the timing was spot on.

I didn’t even know they were playing today. Bird and Judge each with a HR. It would be nice to see Bird get above .200 before the end of the season.

Judge now owns the rookie HR record.
