Knicks Trade Melo to OKC

Scott Perry has done the impossible.  He got Carmelo Anthony off the Knicks!  Not that Melo is not a great player and a sure fire Hall of Famer, but it just never worked, the parts he needed were traded for him, and we were screwed.  Okay, so the Knicks get back Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and the Bulls' second round pick.  Kanter gives us a third big Euro, while McDermott gives us another three for a mix with Kuz.  Both players are just 25.  The Knicks have their firsts going forward but were short of seconds and now they have one.

I think there could be another trade or two the pare down the roster over this weekend, but the impossible has been done!

Contracts in are short term (options) and pick is just window dressing. Really didn't get much back for Melo here, but didn't take on $$. -- @alanhahn

As reported this am, Knicks wanted scoring/short contracts back for Melo & got it in Kanter, who has one year + player option for '18-'19.

Funny after this trade our projection is to have roughly the same record as last year with Melo. I am hoping for a tank, top 3 pick, so we can pair KP with another young Superstar. Look forward to seeing the young guys develop this year!
