This Week on the Blog
Alright, this past week has been tumultuous and we've got a lot more coming up this coming week. Let's take a look.
Yanks: The Fowler injury lingers and pains us. We'll keep pulling for him. CC should be back this week, pending a bullpen session today. And that should end the brutal and costly Cessa miscalculation. Clint Frazier has been called up and should debut. Tomorrw, the Yanks can officially sign, or start signing their latest IFA class. What we know of it is that it's all hitters, so far, no pitchers. That goes a long way to explaining the pitcher heavy draft. Also, by the end of the week, the signed draft class will be complete, and we'll see which, if any Day 3 targets took the overage.
Giants: The Giants are still off. Maybe some contract news somewhere.
Rangers: the Rangers knocked out two huge needs today, and have cap room to address the C position through UFA or trade. The Rangers are in really good shape going into the rest of the offseason, and their impressive prospect camp ended yesterday. Let's see how they sove C.
Knicks: the Knicks have plenty of cap room, but are already down to contacting Rose, who really screwed up the development of KP and WH. Let's hope they find a better option. The way things are breaking, it would be possible for a good executive to move Melo. Let's see if we have any of those. No one seem to be offering the Knicks a Shatty Discount. Their Summer League has started, but Frank isn't playing yet. Kornet has been hitting 3's.
Alright, everybody, have a safe and fun 4th, and let's hope the best for all our teams and each other.

Knicks pay premiums rather than receive discounts, and not even for good players.
Hayward is meeting with the Heat. No way they are ready to surpass the best of the East, even with him, but Riley gets respect from players and it's earned. I mean, Miami is really appealing, even to me, but still.
You can trace the demise of the Knicks to their failure to keep him.
Right now, less is more with the Knicks. Tanks, stockpile picks, develop, and hope for good health.

So Betances is broken.
This might be Sterling's best call ever:
The 22-year-old Baby Bomber's mom could be seen crying on FOX, while John Sterling reacted with a home run call of "And downtown goes Frazier!"
Injuries aside the pen is destroying their season
I am sure Cashman has been working the phones as we approach the deadline.
Sure, but burning assets on another reliever is really suboptimal. Especially as poorly as Girardi has managed the pen.
I would put Pineda in the pen and call up Adams to start
It would not surprise me if they do the reverse.
He pretty much has to completely overhaul the pen if they want to compete, and I'm not sure that's possible.
Give German an extended look in high leverage. Green too.
We all scratched our heads about giving Chapman that contract after the WS workload
Meanwhile, adding Frazier to Judge and Sanchez could be ridiculous.
RichinNJ, think about Torres, Rutherford and a surprise break thru or two..... I like Fowler ALOT. Thought and prayers with him ... Andujar looked good also.
I don't want to play for this season. I'm playing for a dynasty. So, I AM NEVER trading assets for relievers. Ever, the teams that did it last year, and handed over Frazier and Torres were desperate! We're the Yanks and must play the long game.
They have the pieces internally to have an interesting pen. Maybe it won't work, maybe Girardi will stick to the brand names and not experiment (maybe? we know he will).
Cashman can't let Girardi diminish their potential. If he does, it's on him too. Torres was bigger than he was 20 years ago. Girardi should not be.
Let's not dismiss Bird either, lion.
Autocorrect would not let me type TORR E.
Waldman said in the postgame Chapman should haves IBB'd Gouriel. Didn't see enough of the game to evaluate that.
If the Knicks are looking to open up cap space to offer more money to free agents, they could open up cap space by trading Courtney Lee or Kyle O'Quinn. Of course, they could also open up cap space by trading Carmelo Anthony. Members of the Knicks organization have told people around the league that, at this point, they remain hopeful that they can trade Anthony. The Knicks and Rockets touched base last month on an Anthony deal but the Knicks were not interested in Ryan Anderson, per league sources.

It's tough to see what the Rockets or Cavs can offer for Melo that woman not involve taking back a bad contract.
Woman = would not
