Dustin Fowler Pulled From the Scranton Game

Okay, Dustin Fowler was pulled from the Scranton Game I was listening to.  There was no apparent injury, so either he's getting called up or traded.  Tyler Austin might be headed to the DL, and I have no idea what they'd do to get Dustin on the roster.  If he remembers to grind his AB's and take walks he could be awesome in Yankee Stadium.  Only draft pick the Yanks even made who had Country Music on his highlight video on YouTube.  The other thought, is the trade as I believe he's more likely to be the centerpiece for a trade for pitching than anyone else, since they also have Frazier who's ceiling is higher because of the walk gene.  Bears watching.

Yeah it's Austin.

So Bird is still sore?

They probably misapplied the shot if he's still sore a week later.

@Zalman888:
There was an IF a few years ago named David Adams. Looked real god until he hurt his ankle. Kept bothering him. Finally fund a fracture.

Interesting point.

Same with Teix, right?

The NYDN has a paragraph that seems to suggest that Girardi said that's if Bird can't come back now he could be done for the season. But there are no quotes around that statement.

If that's the case than there will be a trade coming to sure up 1B.

At 5:22 PM, Blogger Rich said...

That would be a waste, imo. As of today, the biggest need is the bullpen and a manager who knows how to deploy his relievers.

I don't think it's possible to overstate the degree to which Girardi has played a role in this mess.

Andujar!

Another hit. Not a good send.

McCann butchered balls regularly, Did Girardi say a word to him?

Flaherty used to shit on Posada too.

Big hit by Wade.

Judge doing Judge things.

At 9:17 PM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

If Andujar is gonna hit like this I don't think you can send him down even if/when folks start getting healthy.

I think they have to find takers for Headley and Gardy, and others on the 40. The team belongs to the kids now.

They'd likely be deathly afraid of dealing Gardner as it would send the message they're "selling," but I agree. Rich even said they should try selling high on him. Need to give Wade and Andujar the at-bats.

So Sanchez is dealing with a groin issue but Kay, who has a job because..., disses his effort. And a Girardi wasn't scolding him.

YES personnel are laughably and regularly wrong about everything.

Wade has a nice swing and would be great if he can be a super utility guy like Zobrist.

At 5:40 AM, Blogger Rich said...

Speaking of Gardner, he is showing that he may be their best defensive CF.

Fowler...

Good showcase for trade

At 9:39 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Gardner has been the best CF on the team since Granderson and Ellsbury have been playing it.

Some rumors (Sherman) that Mason Williams will be DFA'd.

At 2:45 PM, Blogger Rich said...

Carter in NYY clubhouse. Ridic.

At 3:28 PM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

They sent down Andujar for him. Unreal. The marginal roster construction continues to be a problem. They couldn't DH Andujar for a few days while waiting to see what the deal was with Holliday?

At 4:08 PM, Blogger Rich said...

Really? To be consistent, no tradition prospects either.

At 4:12 PM, Blogger Rich said...

*trading*

What I mean by that is if you are taking the long view by prioritizing Andujar's development, then use that principle to guide all of your decisions.

At 4:39 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

This is ridiculous. Fortunately, I am sure they are perfectly willing to DFA Carter again.

Andujar needs to work on his fielding for sure but the bat looks ready based on what he has done in 2017.

WTF WTF WTF

Such terrible news for Fowler. Feel horrible for the kid in his MLB debut. 6 month recovery time so he should be ready to go by ST.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yanks-big-trade-white-sox-fill-pitching-article-1.3288375

Here’s what that probably means: one player would be Clint Frazier or Blake Rutherford; another would be Chance Adams or Justus Sheffield; and then someone like Wade or Andujar, as well as a younger pitcher like Albert Abreu.

No way I make that deal.

At 5:55 AM, Blogger Rich said...

No trades.

At 5:56 AM, Blogger Rich said...

Of kids.

Too many injuries to even contemplate the other pov.

At 6:03 AM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

Assuming Quintana returns to form, that's a fair deal, but yeah, I wouldn't make that trade at this point. Too many injuries to consider it, as Rich said.

At 6:31 AM, Blogger Rich said...

One other thing. Although it may or may not have been different with regular PT and a full commitment, Refs cannot succceed here and that's on him too. I was very surprised they let go of Mason Williams instead of him.
