This Week on the Blog

Well, this one just started off on the wrong foot, so let's hope it finishes off a lot better.

Giants:  The Giants just lost a heartbreaker for the 6th time this year and it would behoove them at this point to keep losing and take the picks, and probable new FO and Coaching stuff.  The Giants probably would have won today if not for drops by Odell and DRC, as well as fumble from Jennings. They all redeemed themselves but it was not enough.

Knicks: The Knicks are back at .500, though Kristaps hasn't had a double double in awhile and Grant isn't playing.  There's been noise about them wanting a shooting guard, though Alfalo has been one of their best players since his late start.

Rangers:  The Rangers are still in the tank, and will stay there until they start making some plays.

Yanks:  The Yankees have been quiet.  Perhaps too quiet, or perhaps they're just being super patient.  Let's hope that we end up liking whatever they do.  What they've done so far has been unimpressive.

I hope you all have a phenomenal Holiday week.

And this GREAT CB got beat TWICE for TDs.

Something about KP, beyond blocks, he alters a lot of shots, by his own man, and guys he helps against.

At 3:58 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

So Norman can't accept that' he got beat for 2 TD, and he is questioning Beckham!s manhood. Project much?

Hope Ian Clarkin and Luis Torrens can regain form and Dermis Garcia shows something this year as well.

I wonder what they're fallback plan is if Hadley is as bad as last year, or as bad as he was, even close to that.

I'm not sure that's the actual top ten.

It's skewed young.

btw, Media imbalanced outrage is seemingly going to get Beckhman suspended.

At 10:25 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Even skewed young, I don't think it's correct, they I also don't really believe in the value of those lists.

Yup, they're going to tear down Beckham.

I admittedly could have missed it, but I didn't see one Giant stick up for Beckham on the field, let alone the entire team.

He was punched and held from the first play. If that's the rules, then what did he do wrong by doing the same thing?

At 3:36 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

Beckham is appealing. It infuriates me that he's the only one suspended

At 3:58 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

The refs should have controlled it. They didn't. And the Panthers with bats are probably an even bigger issue. Both Norman and Finnegan were trying to kill Beckham on various plays. Also, Eli was facemasked on his one run, no call. Kuechle also PF'd Odell, and on and on. That's not the story they want to tell. They want to shoot down the ascendant star. It's a sad comment on things. Meanwhile they will continue to lionize rapists like Rothlisberger and murderers like Ray Lewis.

At 5:33 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

Well said.

Speaking of contact that is overlooked by refs, few players in NBA history get/got fewer fouls than Melo.

Leaving everything else aside, Beckham would do well to cut a lower profile. With his talent, his aim should be to have a full career, so why run the risk of attracting more cheap shots and increasing the risk of injury? He has the potential to be an all time great, so it would be a shame if he burned out after six seasons.

At 6:56 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

Eli said that Beckham has heeded his advice and has toned it down from last season. Norman was permitted to interfere with him, mug him really, and things got out of hand.

Where was the OL, who could have made it clear to Carolina, early, that this shit wound not be tolerated.

Thanks for the info LINJ! I guess we'll have to root for the Pats if they play Carolina in the Super Bowl.

I am confused by D Fisher's coaching style. Does he think he's just a celebrity row peep with good seats? Rarely takes timeouts during other teams scoring runs, just lets them run it up. Why was Affalo not taking shots tonight?

At 8:21 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

It is hard to believe that a smart PG could be such a clueless head coach.

I also think the triangle is a bad system that precludes, for example, the pick and roll.

That was a good post by Chad. I'm working on some stuff, but if I get a little extra time, maybe I'll post about the system.

The Panfucks will no longer bring bats, but the senator's son has still only suspended Beckham.

On Inside the NFL, mics picked up Rivera apologizing to Coughlin post-game. "I'm sorry about my guys' behavior coach," Rivera said.

Where were his teammates? If nothing else, this points to Reese's absolute failure in roster construction.

Beyond fighting, they should have sent OL at Norman on running plays, until this shit stopped.

Some peeps think the Knicks should pick up Tony Wroten, and with the Nats signing Murphy, evey team with a better record moved up one in the draft.

Play Calderon and lose. The guard situation is killing their season.

At 6:47 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

The number of worthwhile Reese draft picks is dwindling all the time, but most beat writers think he is safe. It may take the rebirth of Rozelle to save this franchise from the Maras, yet again.

So, great onside kick or greatest onside kick?

Stott, thanks again for the well wishes. My dad watching the Giants tonight: "I hate bad football." Giants are bringing out the sense of humor.

At 9:05 PM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

Coughlin wouldn't answer when he was asked whether he has been given enough talent in recent years, but obviously he has been a victim of Reese's serial incompetence.

At 7:02 AM, Blogger Lawyer in NJ said...

The Knicks, in contrast, could be fixed with one guard and a competent head coach.

At 8:30 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Lawyer you a fan of Luke Walton? I think he would be a much better fit... Calderon is Phil's one mistake. Any guards you have in mind? Anything short of Reese and Coughlin being replaced is a failure..

At 9:10 AM, Anonymous Stottlemyre68 said...

Mike -- Glad to hear about your Dad.

Question for all, given that the only issue remaining for the Giants is where they draft next year and whether Reese and/or Coughlin is fired -- is it possible that Belichik let the Jets win because he would rather have the Jets in the playoffs than Pittsburgh? I don't think it's totally crazy given Belichik's past history and it would make alot more sense to me than the idea that he thought this was a good football move. I for one would be alot more worried about facing Big Ben in the playoffs than about facing Fitz.
