Yanks Trade Wilson for Two RHP's
Yanks today traded LHRP Justin Wilson to Detroit for RHP Luis Cessa, 23 and RHP Chad Green 24. Not sure what it was about Cessa that made him part of the Cespedes trade for the Mets, but there seems to be nothing to get excited about accordin to scouting reports. Of course, the Yanks might have different reports, so who knows. In theory, selling high on Wilson is a good idea, whether they got enough is the question. Of course, Lindgren, Pazos, Webb and Shreve still give them plenty of options. What's more, Cash says he's, "Not Done."
So what other first round or IFA under achievers are out there?;)

Peter Botte, like too many mediots completely overlooks the dissimilarity of the two offenses:
The Yankees are worried about arbitration years of middle relievers? They are taking trying to be the Royals too far now.
I corrected him on Twitter. He's a moron who neither knows the system nor knows that selling high on Wilson was the right idea.
Astros just traded Velazques and stuff to the Phillies for Ken Giles, a lesser closer than Miller. I wonder what's going on...
I wasn't aware of this:
According to general manager Brian Cashman, the Yankees are confident that Castro twice being present when guns (not his) were fired in the Dominican Republic and him being accused of sexual assault, for which he wasn’t charged, aren’t behavioral problems.
“We know who we are acquiring and went through everything and it’s all good,’’ Cashman said Wednesday.
Asked what “everything’’ meant, Cashman answered, “I don’t need to spend more time on it.’’
My guess is he traded for pitching prospects because he's going to trade pitching prospects plus Mateo.
We'll see what happens. I think they'll keep Mateo, even though Wilkerman Garcia has a better hit tool, and is also a plus fielder. In fact, the compare him to Cano, but with walks at age 17...

We got roughed up in the Rule 5.
Yeah, just saw.
Losing Cave is not a big deal. Still have Heathcott, Williams and Gamel, all somewhat similar players. In fact, those 3 have more power than Cave, and can somewhat relate to palying the corner OF spot.
Rutcki (spelling??) is a wild card. I doubt he sticks, although the Braves do not have anyone in their pen right now.
It is weird that the Braves are stalking the Yankees farm System. They have traded for, or signed, over 15 guys in the past year or so from our system.
The way things are going now none of the young outfielders going to get a shot, barring injury, except Judge, if he is still here.
Much of their front office, including their GM used to work for the Yankees.
Cave is a bit younger than those other guys and when you have a guy who can really play CF, you trade them instead of every letting them get to the Rule 5 -- if you're lucky enough to have great depth.
Domingo German re-signed with the Yanks.

Though, obviously, not as proven at big-league level as Adam Warren, quite a few teams have an interest in Bryan Mitchell
An interesting column by Sherman: http://nypost.com/2015/12/10/yankees-trades-send-clear-signal-its-not-about-next-season/
I don't disagree with the philosophy I disagree with the type of player Cashman targets, in other words, he doesn't seem to understand the cumulative effect of taking pitches and walks, and hurt ng to all fields.
I think Refs does all those things better than Castro, all be it probably would less power.
I think defense is one of the most overrated concepts in baseball.
It is this really a plan? After all last year they signed Headley to a stupid deal, And he was bad at defense as well as being very mediocre at offense
I think Murphy is more valuable than Hicks, and more of a need, other than the outfield handedness thing, but to me that's about 2016.
So I'm still not sure they have a strategy that makes enduring sense.
At first I thought that was going to be Sherman carping about the Yanks non-involvement at the behest of Boras. But it was actually more or less what we think, and how we'd be glad to have some picks and roster flexibility.
